This is the frame for 54 chevy truck. I need to patch the bottom portion of the frame, but not sure which way to do it. May thinking was cut it out, replace it, find a way to brace on the inside, then box the frame. Any suggestions?

You're gonna have to remove the whatever bracket (4-link bar?) first. Then you can cut out a temporary inside plate to hold the top and bottom flanges of the frame while you then cut out the rusted/patched outer side. Weld the new outer side only to the outer vertical frame area. Then cut out the top flange and replace that. Weld all the new outside and top together then cut out and replace the bottom flange. Weld that in. Once your all done you can cut the tacks off of the temporary inside plate and reattach the whatever backet properly. Boxing it in will add a lot of strength to the area but, can you do that with those bars or will you then have to re-work the other end of those also?

I should be able to box in the area. I will have to leave a small opening for the nut and bolt though.
