I am having issues with mounting my 289 to my 31 ford model a stock like frame. The problem lies in the fact that I ruined my true stock frame (don't worry die hards, I will fix it at a latter date when the car is back together with home built frame). I just bought TCI SBF weld in mounts and they just don't seem to work. When mocked up, the mounts seem to be at all the wrong angles and put the motor mount through bolts about even with the top of the framerails, were as my old motor mounts, on the original frame, sit about 2" above the top of the framerails. I am thinking about tracing the mounts on the original frame and trying to fab myself. Here I go with another problem, my experience with building/fab is limited ( I also am not a rich man, as Dallarah won the 2012 Indy car build contract, not the company I work for - Swift Engineering). Sorry about the ranting. I think the biggest problem I have is the fact that those that I try to talk to at the local car club gatherings here in south Orange County, Ca don't seem to have any interest in helping me build my car. It truley seems that the majority of vintage car owners are just there to show off there cars that they paid someone else a fortune to build and that they don't know a damn thing about how there car was built. So, with that said, is there any true builders (local to south OC) out there that are willing to give me the opportunity to pick your brains? Thanks ahead for all response. Brianangus - if you read this, I'd like to pick your brain some more. You are truely a genious. Thanks, Shannon Just once, i'd like to do it right the first time.
Great question, maybe a moderator can move the post to general or something before the nitpickers get all bent out of shape about it being in the wrong section.
At the risk of being called a "nitpicker" you might try reposting your question on the main board. This is the intro board so it will most likely get buried before long. You are correct in your assumption, they don't answer because they can't, most don't have a clue. Have you checked out the Alliance Vendors? There is a vendor that makes kits (motor mounts, etc.) that you weld yourself... b.t.w. welcome from Arkansas.
