  6. I didnt want to flame the guy, he seemed cool but there is a serious safety issue here
the car is neat and I like the T axle
being a teacher, I use things like this for instructional purposes
we are planning to set up a straight axle this fall

a simple batwing mounted through the spring perch would solve this safety issue

  7. I had a number of thoughts instantly.

  13. Batwing, yes over and done and everyone sleeps in their own bed.
Cool, maybe,,, if he's cool he should accept a wiser opinion.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, your hope isn't going to make anyone feel better, mend 'em up, heal 'em or bury 'em.

I hope you say something, like ,,,,,, this is really neat, I like your vision on this and I'm going to guess you haven't ever seen one off these, (shows a clear pic of a bat wing set up). Here's how they work blah blah blah.
    That is if he's cool.

  14. yep, dont know him personally, so just bringing up an issue is hard
my friends would flame me for attempting something like this
probably get physically assaulted........and I hope they would

^^^ Obviously the owner has a lot of confidence in either his or someone else's welding and fabrication skills. I imagine that Ackerman angle wouldn't be correct either?

The first thing that comes to mind is chickenshit welding as my Dad called it. The second thing is the song from The Mickey Mouse Club. I hope some one brings up the safety issue to the owner in a kind and gentle way before there is a bad accident!

Awww, come on now........it's painted nice, the home made spindle setup is brightly colored, you guys will pick apart anything.....
This fits nicely in the my friends been doing this for years or my buddies car drives just fine, or that's how it was done back in the day......obviously the owner knows nothing about hot rods, or the technology used in building one safely, it would have been a great thing to have explained to him why it was dangerous and how to fix it.
Scares me that someone would even think for a minute that this setup would be strong enough to not endanger those around this car on the road.

Sometimes you have to point out the safety issues, even if it is difficult.
If he doesn’t listen, maybe he will listen to the next guy that tells him, or the next one after that.
But if no one tells him, nothing gets done.

Over here we have an extensive certification process for this very reason.
