maybe take a few pictures of it in it's "almost fits" position, so we can see what you are doing?

thanks jim if I relember correct last time I had it nearly there so I went back to the company that cut it and got them to grind/sand a sharp corner where it slides into the winder off of it and it slipped in.at some stage in the last 79 years I imagine some one was reversing the truck when the door snagged something pulling the door restrictors through the front of the doordamaging the front window track at the same time I got a new track made up fitted it today better double double check the measurements tomorrow and reassess the situation.nothing welded up yet so I should be able to adjust if it is necessary

    Tip #1. Glass won't bend.

    you are a great help

  6. The vertical tracks that are inside the door have bolts or screws holding them on. I usually take the bolts off and let the tracks hang (the new felts hold the tracks from falling). Now you can finagle the door glass with the front tilted in on a angle. Once the door glass is almost in the door, start straightening it out, the onbolted tracks will now allow the glass to fit in. You have to hook up the regulator arms to the channel and there is a tilt "cam" (channel) in the middle of the door
where one of the regulator arm hooks up to (the arm with a roller at each end) - that is an adjustment for the tilt of the glass to run smoothly. With everything attached and window ready to roll up, put the tracks hanging by the felts onto the back and front edge of the glass and bolt on. Check operation and adjust tracks and cam if necessary. This is a universal example, yours might have just the front track to be unbolted, but pretty much the same procedure.

  7. i just restored a 37 and a 38. if i remember right i put the glass in with it turned 90 degrees then rotated it into the track. then installed the regulator and door panel.

  8. ^^that works, but sometimes you have to loosen the tracks if it's stubborn. Sometimes unbolting if too stubborn.

door tracks pass side 001.JPG door tracks pass side 002.JPG well I had a fresh look at the set up this morning it soon came apparent what the problem was..i was trying to mirror image the drivers side door track.,the passengerdoor sustained damage where the door strap had pulled through the door and damaged the front of the door.i plated the opening on the inside and cut out an opening for the door strap tooperate and mirror imaged the bracket holding the track off the door.instead of mounting the bracket to the door I mounted it on the plate bringing the bracket an extra 1/8 forward making the opening too small for the glass..at the back of the door one of the tabs for holding the felt in place was broken off, I make a little bracket and riveted it on today I drilled out the rivets and pulled the felts away from the door.put the narrow piece of the glass into the front felt and fitted the rear of the glass into the felt.it fitted in easy.alls well that ends well.my tip forinstalling glass is if you are duplicating window tracks get it right
few small jobs left to do trim double sided tape locktite nuts /bolts paint a few brackets
