I had missed that the car was for sale on CL and the dealie went through eBay Motors. Look up red flag in the dictionary... you know the rest. No way in hell that could be legit.

We all have a story... I bought a 57 on eBay. After it arrived, it was not as described. Ebay let me know their refund coverage doesn’t cover classic, antique, old cars.
Like the old story goes.... buyer beware.
I’ve purchased two cars through the years. The last one I spoke by phone with the owner multiple times. Nearly everything they told me was untrue. Although the vehicle was in pretty good shape, it was not nearly what they described.
No more for me, if I ever buy another, I will go out look and verify exactly what it is....

Just be aware that the old adage is still true; "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". These scams can be ID'd from 100 miles away if you take the emotion out of it. My wife lost a Corgi dog to cancer last year and is wanting another. She got an offer on FaceBook yesterday for a 11 week old female exactly what she is look if for, for a price 1/10th what it should go for. The ad made it look like the dog was local. Turns out the guy is in 'Florida' (we in Kalifornia) and he could work out sending the dog and the payment transaction. We thanked him profusely but said sending a dog from Nigeria to Kalifornia would be cruel.
