Were Chevies ever converted into funeral "flower cars" as were Cadillacs?

Very entertaining thread. Thanks for the bump.

I don't understand the attraction of the 57 with the 59 Elco roof. Quasimodo couldn't even be comfortable in it.

Searching for a thread on 2 dr wagon conversions and I came across this old truck conversion thread. Last year I started driving my 56 ElCamino conversion. Prior to this build I did a 37 Chevy into a kingcab pickup. Next up might be a 66 Chevelle 2 dr wagon.
I just keep getting these ideas that make me wonder what I think these cars might have looked like if they had been built.

...and thats what Photoshop is for. If you have something in mind let me know and I'll try to whip something up. Better to do it first on a computer then the real deal and a darn sight cheaper! :D

Would I be wrong in assuming that your pickup pic. is an FE Holden?
    Approx 1958, Australian?

Geez, I thought all you guys were into cuttin' stuff up!

Some of them look pretty damn good to me and I don't even like Chevys.

Probably died of a heart attack when he finally realized the magnitude of the 4 wheeled, rolling cluster fuck he'd created...

I dunno Falcongeorge, outside of the cartoon car wheels it looks pretty good to me. Some guys hack up Model A coupes to the point you can't comfortably drive them any distance and some guys turn a 55 four door that was hit in the rear into a pickup.

there used to be a couple around here in the 60's that had the back end cut off and the back of a truck cab welded on and a pickup box on the back. They didn't have the fit and finish of the one Smooth Customs showed but they seemed to work for the owners.

Well, its strictly a matter of taste, I'll grant you that. I look at that and YIKES!!! Wheres that vomit smiley when you need it!

Actually it looks more like it was hit in the rear BY the pickup, and they just left it stuck in there...:p

heres one that was built here in the early 90s by a very talented individual by the name of Jeff Marshall.
Its actually more a Holden ute morphed into a 55 ute (it sits on a holden ute chassis and uses the Holden floor and firewall but....it looks pretty darn good IMO given the 90s paint treatment. factory style paint, chrome bumpers and some S/S along the sides would transform it.

I'd kinda like to see how this one turned out. Looks doable with the wagon rear glass.

The 2 door wagon body is the way to go, although I agree that there a plenty of pickups from the 50's out there for sale.

  29. I am just queer enough to want to save that thing!
