Anybody ever been involved with this ?!
It sounds like a real 'hoot' ! (expensive hoot but a hoot none-the-less)

It's a team sport. Looks like you found a team. Congratulations.

Yes, we’re in the off topic section. Just no battery powered cars.

I first heard of this race while watching “Iron Resurrection “ and one of the kids there brought an old Dodge Omni Charger to build and compete in. They said there was a $500 limit on the build?!? Which would make it more interesting and fun for the average person to do. Heck it would be fun as hell in a jalopy with the neighborhood kids as a team:D:D

Son fascinated by lemons cars for few years finally bought 2000 Camaro already had roll cage & fuel system installed. More fun then waiting in stage lanes at drags. Not super cheap, suspect track insurers require safety equip. Cage, fuel system, seat, belts, fire extinguisher system, shut off wiring - check local track rules. Next, where u going to race, trailer, decent race tires. Costs money to go fast. Get couple buddies to help drive laps. Camaro started as v6, five speed all stock. Aluminum 6 liter LS motor in garage wait to install. 2nd car in works & parts car when needed. 1st race, car dealer with 18 wheeler & crew pull in unload Farrari for boss & wife go to dinner while crew prep car. Some can afford crazy money to have fun. Anyway, he loves it go out & drive hard, turn over to next driver, go as many laps as can. Rub fenders with Ford V8 powered BMW. Spend as much & go as fast & as long as comfortable with & have a lot of fun.

Yeah......I suspect(ed) the system-was-rigged (like the Farrari dealer) to "He who has the most $$$ wins"!
It's that way in all motorsports. My neighbor just wants his 'team' to have the fun of competing. Maybe last until the finish....Don't wreck or blow... His son and nephews will drive and help prep the car. They are trying to come up with a way to get $$$ donations to off-set expenses (like real racing...go skill to learn)
You're right...lotsa small expenses add up quick !

Do not think of lemons race as winning. Just the fun of driving as many laps as fast as you can racing others for the fun if it. Better then sitting home watching ball sports. Enjoy the build & tune of the car. At the track you will make friends & race to beat those about as fast as you - son wants to beat the Ford V8 bmw. Last race they rented car to couple guys to race & they crashed it. He also got invite to drive on another team. Like bracket drags, race guys about as fast as you, & do more laps then slower guys. Stop & BBQ with friends then go out & drive like hell again. Spend $ to have fun with your toys.

Are you sure that the Ferrari team ‘won’? The LeMons organizers are serious about the $500 car value. Here’s an excerpt from the rules:
"BS Factor: To prevent cheating, all cars will be inspected by a panel appointed by the Organizers. At that time, all teams will be given an opportunity to describe the car’s purchase and prep. If the panel believes the limit set out in Rule 4.1 has been exceeded, it will assign a Bullshit Factor (BSF) equal to one BSF per $10 above the limit. The entry will be docked one lap for each BSF assigned. (Ten dollars = one BSF = one lap.) Entrants are very, very, exceedingly strongly encouraged to bring pre-race-prep photographs, verifiable receipts, notarized testimonials, plus any and all other supporting evidence to Tech/BS Inspection. Or at least make up plausible-sounding stories in advance."
They may have been hundreds of laps in the hole at the green flag.
LeMons and similar series like ChampCar (formerly ChumpCar) sound like an absolute blast. Anyone in SW Washington have an open seat?

I never wrote Ferrari driver won or was a Ferrari dealer. Ferrari was go out for dinner car. Being a car dealer was a guess because of team in 18 wheeler. Have no idea what kind of dealer, maybe owned trucks, do not know. And sorry do not remember what car he raced. $500 rule hard to believe after all safety things installed, maybe prior value. Say again, do not join to “win”, have fun drive like hell as long as you want. More fun they sitting in stage lanes at the drag strip, tracks further away, but a fun weekend
