the BC Custom and Classic Car Show at the Tradex will be held on April 20-22 this year, the Stude will be on display with some other vintage gassers. come and enjoy the show!
Rick Wojdak from Axe graphics did this cool show display card on vintage hard cardboard like the old days.

OUCH!!!!! had a big connection of the worst kind with a driver who couldn't figure out what radius to turn!!!! he pulled out of a side street and took out every panel, the side door and fender! the stude did not shift or get hurt inside the trailer....we were very lucky.

    Regarding car show.
Well, as usual, you've "done yourself proud." I REALLY think the second generation poster (with smoked background) is quite an eye catcher. The first poster was great, but the second is - WOW! What a difference a simple background can make! Let us know when magazine coverage is available. If it is not distributed in the US, send me 5 copies COD.

Re: trailer. After what you have been able to do with GBF, fixing the trailer will be a piece of cake.

Those new rear tires and mags really look great. They give the car a more aggressive look.

"WOW!!" Truly impressive. I'm sure it will run at least as good as it looks. I'm betting that the old girl is going to experience living in a much faster lane than she did 40 years ago. Can't wait for some good video. Just don't get out of the throttle when she hikes the front wheels. She just like to show off a little. (Don't want to break that new front spring by coming down like a ton of bricks.)

the car ran 10.78 with you chief....with the new motor it might run a little quicker, the rules will only let me run 11.49 with that roll bar...so i think i will just launch hard and back off on the top end. i am going to try the 31" tires the next time out , the 33" were a bit too tall....

I can't imagine sand bagging will be in the "learning curve" for long. I'd bet it will soon be time to retire the old roll bar and fabricate a cage that will be good for at least a 10 flat pass.

Let me know as soon as the dyno data is in.

How about unbolting the existing ancient bar and building a legal bar (cage) that could utilize the existing mounts and install any additional mounts necessary to accommodate the competition setup? Use the old bar (for originality) for street and shows, then remove it and install the competition unit when you want to go really fast. Piece of cake.

Easy for me to say - huh?

the engine made it onto the the dyno today....too bad Cliff the engine builder did not check if the valve covers cleared the Crane roller rockers and now there is metal filings through the motor....off it comes to be blown apart and re-assembled...back on the dyno sometime soon.
so much for the "big motor" running in the car this weekend at "The Straight Axle Shootout" at Ashcroft,BC.

What a BUMMER!!!! No cliches can make one feel good after such an incident. However, it happens to all of us. Most of the time, things get better. Just remember, this too, will pass.

Now all you have to do is come up with some creative and really trick looking aluminum spacers to lift the valve covers the right amount. Somebody around you must have a vertical mill and some aluminum plate the right thickness.

There's a guy on ebay with Olds valve cover spacers.......but I don't think they are more than 1/2" in thickness/height. Even with the additional thickness of the extra cork gaskets, I was 3/8" shy. That's why I had to run the later production tall covers from GM Performance Parts. The Harland Sharp rockers and Jomar stud girdle just wouldn't fit under the M/T's. I've since changed rockers to a Jessel shaft system....but I sold the M/T's. Wanna trade my tall ones for your M/T's?

actually the M/T covers are tall enough to clear the Harland Sharp rockers , it was the bolts holding the Moon breathers on that were rubbing! i have replaced them with shallow head bolts ,no washer and i used hi strength lock tite
the motor is now completely torn down and being rebuilt now

the motor was run again yesterday...a very disappointing 434hp ,491 ft lb at 5100 rpm, time to re-evaluate the program once again. i am looking for a minimum 500-525hp.

You need this blower from my shop!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, a healthy after market parts 455 should go 500 hp with no sweat. Sounds like your engine builder is a bow tie builder and not tuned in to what an Olds needs to make the numbers you're after.

I have followed this thread from the beginning and it struck me that it was as much about the rebuild that 5w32 was doing as it was about friends and connections. Your dad played an instrumental role on both fronts. You could read his excitement in his posts about not only about the car but the people involved with it over the years. Lots of long lost friends.

This is very sad news and the only thing I can say is that I hope your dad is not suffering. You have every right to be proud of your dad and if positive thoughts and hopes can help you have mine.

I am the youngest daughter of Royce Hunt (Chief-Imagineer).

With GREAT SORROW I am telling you guys that my dad is dying, and only has a short time left. He was diagnosed with inoperable liver and inoperable pancreatic cancer just weeks ago. He is now on hospice and rapidly declining.

I am heartbroken knowing I have to say goodbye to the greatest man that has ever lived on this planet.

My dad always had the ability to make anyone feel at ease in learning, and confident they could accomplish anything they set their mind to. He was a friend and teacher to your everyday average person.. to gang members, to felons, and mostly his children who all love him dearly.

About 17 years ago I was online in a random chatroom and was bragging about my dad's teaching and racing days in Pomona and some fellow asked me, "Is Royce Hunt your dad!?" When I told him yes, this complete stranger told me that my dad was the closest thing he had to a father in his life, and had taught him everything he knew about cars, and that he would never have accomplished finishing his education and now owning his own mechanic shop had he not met my dad as a Gary High Shop instructor. I can't tell you how incredibly honored I felt to be his daughter then, and my whole life.

Just thought in honor of my father I'd let this group of people that gave him some great happiness in the last of his life... know what is happening.

I am so proud to be his daughter. How do you say goodbye to your hero, your dad :'(
Please think of my dad when you ride in the studie...
he loved that car and would love to be there too.

    This is just terrible news.

Just from reading this thread and his posts I would have been honored to have met and known Mr. Royce Hunt.
