I have seen a picture of one member of the "Phantoms" in a "Ol´skool Rodz" mag a while ago, he had a grey wool jacket on! (Pretty cool one) So there probably are a club, but I havent been able to find anything about them on the net!

Sorry, I don't understand the problem. Back in the day, there were "Shifters" and "Cams" and "Carbs" and even "Pharohs" and "Piston Poppers" in all different kinds of cities. The city was always noted on the jackets and the plaques. As long as you were the "Hyenas OF MAYBERRY", no one minded. (Well, okay, the "L.A.Roadsters of Little America" may have pushed it a bit.)

"Phantoms" is a good name and as long as you don't disgrace the name, nobody should really have a beef. Uhh -- you're not restricting your membership to 1940 Ford roadster pickups and the like, are you?

(we never heard form the other 315 Carbs clubs or their lawyers.)

Small club we had here in upstate NY. Started close to fifteen years ago.
Most members moved away. I still wear my jacket. Go for it!

We're a good group a guys.We aren't kickin' puppies,or stealin' old womens purses. We'll be doin' a lot a charity cruises, and stuff like that.I appreciate your guys input on this. The club will be open to pre-64 cars trucks, and bikes. We are NOT elitists.none of us have money for high dollar rods. We' will try to help anyone out if we can .We're mostly a bunch o poor ol' factory workers who have an appreciation for early hot rodding.

Me and a few of my buddys have been joking around about getting some jackets made that say "the mordors". Limited to people who own cars with to many doors.

I thought it'd be funny to call the club the "FALLS CITY FOURDOORS"and have it only exclusive to four door cars. But nobody else seemed to think it funny.:D

Funny to resurrect this issue, but it turns out Phantoms is a name I've been considering for a couple months now.
Well after doing a search I was directed to this thread.
I'm really wanting to use the name with our area noted under it.
Guess we'll be public with it for a spell before we splurge on paraphernalia! Ha!

  17. ......I'm not a lawyer, but I don't see how it could be a problem. There have probably been dozens of clubs using the name over the years. Come up with a design (including an interesting font) and the name Phantoms/ Huntington Beach.....or Phantoms / So. Cal. and all should be good. Call Dennis O'Brien (o'brientruckers.com)...508-248-1555 and get those club plaques made up.:).......Don.

It's damned hard to come up with a club name that isn't already in use somewhere. The Vintiques of Yakima is a long time since 1974 but the Vintiques of Dallas was formed earlier than they were and there is a Vintiques car club in South Dakota. You think you have a unique club name and someone else also uses it.
I'd agree with having the city or region in the club name though.

  21. According to the extensive collection at O'brien truckers there have been 18 clubs using "Phantoms" as their club name.

As far as "FALLS CITY PHANTOMS" you would be the only ones. HRP

Danny I think they probably have that sorted by now as the original post was 14 years ago.

Calling yourselves FALLS CITY PHANTOMS would not be confused with other clubs using the Phantom name since you are also identifying yourselves as being from Falls City. I belong to a club called "Rochester Street Rods" and this year we are celebrating our 50th anniversary. I never remember anyone ever being offended by our use of the words "Street Rods" in our club name.

Only ones that may be offended are your members. :)

Here we have North Dakota Street Rod Ass'n and Minnesota Street Rod Ass'n. I am a member of both and I prefer to think that I do not have a street rod.

Falls City Phantoms has a nice ring to it. There's some term for a phrase where the words start with the same sound, because it is pleasing to the human ear, and this is such a phrase.
