Not just a small cut, but cut yourself deeply...ha! Love it.

be very careful picking colors from a chip in a paint book. the sample is too small and in the wrong light. best to see the color in real life.when you choose a color, buy a small amount and do a "spray out" on a one foot square piece of sheet metal. then "live" with it. check it in different lights. if the color is wrong use the left over for undersides/areas that don't show. if you do like the color the sample piece can be taken with you and used for picking upholstery colors or accessories.
you do not want a gallon or two of expensive paint you do not like!

^^^^^ that is good advice^^^^^ If the paint supplier can do spray cans of paint it is easy and kind of cheap to get a few colors to spray out.

Another vote for the Chevy Carmine. Did a '32 Plymouth coupe that color, really liked that.

and try it on different primers, or at least be sure to use the primer on your car.

the "right" primer should be used, not just any primer. all paint formulas should have a primer "ss" shade number ss1 is white, ss7 black, light gray ss2, dark gray etc..... and blending them will get the shade in between. using the right primer will get the color that was intended and help in touch ups later.
@Paint Guru , did i explain that correctly?

here is a nice red. this to me is a true red, not leaning to maroon or orange, just a simple red. i used it to paint some shocks and i think i had it left over from a '57 chevy pickup. DSCF0009.JPG DSCF0011.JPG
