Household lightswitch wired directly to the starter in my old college car. Yep, car would start in any gear. Had to turn the switch off quickly after the car started or the starter would burn up. Probably not what you wanted to hear, though, huh.

In my O/T driver the I wired the electric fuel pump into the no longer functioning rear window defrost rocker switch on the dash.
A thief may get it started but it won't go very far.....

    Aloha,
Here's a good one. My high school daughter's car had a sticky solenoid so she carried a rubber mallet. One day after school her car wouldn't start. All the boy's converged on her with their macho mechanical knowledge. She cooly opened the hood, reached under the seat, pulled out the hammer, whack, got back into the car and started it. She drove drove off humming, "I'm proud to be a hot rodder's daughter", with a huge grin on her face.

Had a 73 Nova wagon when I was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines that had a screwdriver hammered into the ignition switch. You twisted it like a motorcycle accelerator to start the car.

Problem was, that everyone in my unit new how to start it, so the dern thing was always being temporarily stolen.

I have the original Starterator on my 1933 Chevrolet which is similiar to the Buick gas pedal starters mentioned. Also have a Ford starter ****on that was connected to the horn.
