    Eddie if those albums are all family heirlooms perhaps you might do a Thread showcasing your Grandpa and his life around Hotrod...perhaps even PM @Ryan as he has a way with these types of things...

    Not sure if you have looked but Your Grandpa is listed in those records just above your first post shared by @woodiemike and there is a Gus Bottema driving the same Hotrod also mentioned...neat...royalty in Hotrod that is...;)

    I suspect Grandpa may have garnered a speed tag or two along the way...

    :rolleyes:... @Eddie Munster I cropped the records out of @woodiemike's post above...he is one of the Hambs Dry Lakes Professors...;)...check out some of his Threads...I believe like you he has family roots in the Vintage Hotrod Evolution...

    @Jimmy B is another...There are others...

    The Late @Rockerhead is another...

    Truly the Dry Lakes are a huge Cog in the Big Picture...

    The late Fuzzy Anderson became a good friend after I moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 1996. When I met him he had a recreation of a 29 Roadster but the plaque he had on the front was different.

    It had a Miller OHV 4 banger and the plaque on the dash from the original car showed he ran 99.88 mph in 1941.

  7. Thanks a million!!!! I have a "save the salt" plaque on the back of my 34 now but I'll be putting my Wheelers plaque back on now that I'm armed with some valuable knowledge of the club. My plaque has a maroon background. Anybody know if they originally had a black background? Were club members allowed to paint their plaques any color they wanted? I know I'm asking for info that may not be available but who knows? I might get lucky.

    Just thinking about my old friend Fuzzy this morning and the fact that he was 20 years old when he was racing his car in the California desert on a Sunday, three weeks before Pearl Harbor was bombed. I'm going to try to get a photo of Car Number 407 from his widow Vi. He had a large scrapbook of photos when I first met him.
