  2. I'm curious, when you decided to put a steel bed in it, did you cut up another bed? Or did you find a place that sold the sheet steel like that?

I'm thinking of rewooding one but if I do, I may not ever want to use it in fear of scuffing it. Maybe I could wood it, then have a big sheet of steel I slide in there when I want to use it as a truck.

i'd use wood from an old barn floor or something so it already has some wear and tear. it'd look cool and ya would'nt worry about scuffin it.

You can cut the floor out of a late model truck, that's what it looks like he did. You can also get them new, if you so desire from places like Auto Krafters and Dennis Carpenter (DC does Ford mostly)

I've seen folks put a piece of 14-16ga sheet metal in there, and then use a spray-in bedliner to bring it all together. Just a simple subframe to complement the stock bracing out of light gauge tubing to add some support (especially around the edges) Looks good, and has durability as well.

I really dig what BD did with his though, it looks good. Again, it'd add versatility if you were to bedline it too. It's not much fun having toys you can't play with. :D

If you're planning to use wood, you'd be well served to use a redwood or similar for the durability, finish, and weather resistance. Most old barns (at least in Texas) will likely be pine (which is pretty soft).

  5. Here's a pic of mine again. Still working on it. Need a lot to do. Running stock front suspension but changed out rear to a Camaro with original 235. Plan on putting some flat paint to her next.

This sucks! I took her for a drive a few weeks back around the block after working some kinks out, and a damn APD pulled me over for Expired Plates, Inspection, and no insurance papers with me. I told the officer I just ran her around the block because I have been working on it and he still gave me 3 damn tickets. I have insurance so that got dropped and got her titled as an Antique so that one also got dropped. Now I have to go to court to clear up the inspection one. Tried to tell them it was exempt, but told me I have to clear that up with a judge......

I don't know why they call it Hamburger Helper, it's good just the way it is........

Dude Motorcycles are for riding .... they don't belong in the back of a truck...
I plan on hauling stuff with my 58 Apache but not my bike .. Hell the bike is newer it should run better then the truck..
