    Good lookin car, but I think the slanted posts & the moderate chop makes the quarter windows look big...

  14. Thanks for the pics, Chopolds! I never knew that was a LaSabre and not a Riv. Geez, after all these years I'm glad ya cleared that up.

    Man, that was a radical custom. I always liked it. What's up with that ride nowadays?

    Thanks again.

    Peter Pan,

    Below is a picture of the car taken at the Detroit Autorama in 2003. (not by me, I found it on the internet) So I think the car is still around today, and in good shape.

    A rather small photo, but I really like this 50 Ford convertible with very interesting grille made from 53-54 Ford grille elements. The same year frone wheel opening, great looking bullet hubcaps and perfect stance.

    Another convertible. Great looking 50's styled custom, with very low carson styled top, no skirts and interesting colors

    the guy who owns the green and gold shoe box above lives near me.
    no air bags, he drives it that low all the time, he drove to Paso from L.A. that low.

    BUT! he totaled it a while back. its bad too.
    another cool custom gone!

    Hey Dave,
    I know I already posted a pic of your Mercury into this topic and there also are many pics elsewhere on these pages,nonetheless I'd like to add one more and also two pics of the Shoebox Ford you chopped some time ago.

    This pic exactly shows how a chopped Merc should look ! Great !!!

    [IMG]

    Here's a pic of the Shoebox.What a great roofline that is...

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    As many HAMBers know,the Ford now wears some scallops and no skirts.This pic shows how I prefer the car to look.I simply love that chop !
    The chop on your buddies '53 Chevy is equally impressive and I again want to let you know how much I dig your work !!!
    I hope you don't mind I posted these pics. [IMG]

    Hey Happy Hopper, thanks for th info on the green and gold convertible, to bad he totaled the car, it looke dreally good. Do you or anybody else have a picture of the front?

    Here are some more pictures of some really nice 49-51 Mercury customs.
    Custom made grille from a set of Bumper guards (as seen before in this post) fits perfectly in a new grille suround made from two 49-50 grille surounds. The round corners on the hood are teh perfect radious to fit the grille opening.

    <left>
    <image src=http://images7.fotki.com/v135/photos/2/223020/1618239/DSCF0218-vi.jpg>
    </leftr>

    More fantastic body work on the same merc can be seen here. Dip is removed and the caracter line is extendet all the way to the trunk, which has the perfect round corners again matching the hood. The simple spear shaped side trim fits the modifide side so perfeclty. less is more

    <left>
    <image src=http://images7.fotki.com/v135/photos/2/223020/1618239/DSCF0221-vi.jpg>
    </leftr>

    The three bar grille fit so perfectly with the ribbed bumpers. the 52-54 wheel opening always look good on the 49-51 Merc.

    </leftr>

    54 Ford parts where used for this unique grille. Perfect chop on this 51 Mercury and beautiful flush fit fender skits make this a georgious custom

    Oh shit, such a thread! I have no idea how i could have missed this thread as an owner of ´53 Bel Air. Perhaps it wasn´t shocking subject enough, but now I´m totally messed up! It took me about 2 hours to check out all those incredible pictures! My own Chevrolet definitely has too much doors and way too high top! [IMG] [IMG]

    Before Gettysbutg, the Sledscene East was held first in Virginia Beach (2 years), then Abbotsville, and Hanover PA. Here's some stuff from Hanover.
    First, some weirdo brought a Studebaker!!!!!????!!!!
