I am repairing the rear quarters on mine back to stock after someone leaded in model A fenders and I need to make a tracing of the wheel well bead to make sure I get the right shape. I won't scratch any paint just a pencil and some light tracinig on paper to get the curve of the bead right. Any help would be much appreciated. Tex
Hey Tex, If you have no luck in AZ give me a shout. I have two 3Ws here at the moment with fenders off and I am sure I can trace the bead if you tell me exactly what you need. Ron awd1936@frontiernet.net
I like the look of them as well, but we found the car ran El Mirage in 1941 so I changing directions on this build and removing the bobbed fenders which were probably added after the 1951 when the CA fender laws were in acted. Check out the two pictures of the reverse chop laid over one another and you will see what I mean.
Ask Nick about the '35/'36 guy in gilbert that we went to go see last year when nick was looking for a 5 window. He has a '32 3w. Super cool guy, I know he'd let you take a look at it.
Yeah, I will have to ask him about it next time I see him. I just want to make sure the bead looks factory and is in the correct position the on the quarter panel.
Weird is strong word, may unconvential chop is better Yes reverse chops are very rare in '32 3W and this is the only one I have ever seen, someone posted a '33 3W Bonneville car with a reverse chop and mentioned that the reason they did it is a car with a rake it helps create dowb force on the back.
