Hot Rods Anybody in the Omaha area seen this coupe?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rocky, Jun 1, 2018.

  1. Sorry, I wasn't able to click a photo as the car went across an intersection [72nd and Sorenson Parkway] before I could get my cell phone outta my pocket but this is the car:
Appears to be a late 20s/early 30s GM or off brand 3 window coupe body in dark metallic purple [MoPar Plumb Crazy] . A highboy with no hood and either a 429 Ford shotgun or maybe a modern 4.6 ford cammer....couldn't tell as it flew past quickly. Had chrome or aluminum wheels [bigs and littles] with black tires and open exhaust headers........car runs a manual transmission too.
Any of my homies know this hot rod? I'd love to BS with the guy.
PS.....I suppose the body could have been a ford sport coupe with metal top? I dunno for sho.

  2. get a faster car next time you see it......
    Any white stripes?

  3. No white stripes...and I was in my work van....even with 283 HP. it's not a wailer.
Anybody else?? Malcolm? Jason? Rob Lee?....Bueler?

  4. Hey! I went to a local cruise night on the north end of town and saw that purple car! Turns out it's a shortened 29 ford coupe. Has a late model 5.4 ford engine with carburetion. Not really a traditional HAMB car but I'm glad I finally saw it up close. purpleA.jpg purplea2.jpg

  5. It does look good.Glad you found it.

  6. Might not be Hamb friendly but those valve covers are cool looking
    Would look sweet polished

    Needs a different 710 cap

A chopped channeled AND shortened coupe? Was he a leprechaun? I couldn’t get my torso into a car like that.

Looks like a bitchin little ride. Some polish on that motor would make it a knockout!
