anybody know of a good way or a good design for pinstiping spiderwebs? im a first time striper and my victim is an old toolbox. i wanted to put some simple spider webs in the corners and im not comming up with good looking webs. if any one can please help me it would be much appreciated.
Real webs run from something to something. Start in a corner. Look at other peoples work and see how they use the space. This is the only piece I have with a web design.Hope that helps.
I would suggest you study the real thing for inspiration. Google search for "Spider web" Then draw out your design with Stabillo, when your satisfied, paint over it.
tell you what I did. My buddy has a 51 ford with a cracked side gl*** (bad cracked) so I striped along the cracks and then put in some connecting web. Turned out good and gave me a good reference to how webs can be speratic. When a spider build a web its pretty perfect untill it catches something then once its done with what it catches it drops it out leaving a space, sometimes they repair it alittle differently than it was so the older the web the more speratic it looks (although its not).
Get some good "***istants" Seriously like Ian said;study a real web to get an idea of what they look like. There are so many different styles. One thing I've found that works pretty good is use gray 1-Shot for the web, remember that the connecting pieces sag slightly due to gravity and that even an orb weaver rarely constructs a symmetrical web. You'll also find that on corner webs there are usually little reinforcing strands that attach near the junctures of the radiating strands and the connectors almost like little angles reinforcing two pieces of wood.Hope that helps. I usually strip off all my clothes and grasp the handle of the Mack brush with my ****cheeks. Then I put myself into a harness and swing over the panel like Tarzan on acid. Aoooahh Aooooahhhh oooohaaa..... I find this helps my artwork immensely. The only problem is loadin the brush. I usually end up with one shot in all the wrong places... Just Joking man. all these guys have given really great advice already. One thing I will add though is the mental part of it is very important. The best artwork looks like it was done effortlessly....and really, it has been. Get yourself to a point where you don't have to think about laying the lines down. The lines should all be uniform in width and confident in that there is no shaky-ness evident. (something that I have yet to master) If all that fails, you can also try the Tarzan technique....
Just park it in my house. I'm 1/2 block from a field and next to a c**** so my house is crawling with spiders. I run around with a broom hitting the webs about once a week.
First off ya gotta get a teeny tiny brush. Then get with the spider and decide what colors he wants on his web. Don't let him talk you into doing someone elses style of stripes. Stick with your own style and make a name for yourself. Next and this is important, if your dealing with a Black Widow make sure there is no intimacey whatsoever. They always eat the male after copulation. sorry I just couldn't resist and the question was already answered.
thanks guys, you are giving me some really good ideas. especially Von Tingler . im hopin to get the box done for the friday art show. thanks again. -Cal
YET ANOTHER STRIPER FROM NJ (and still noone wants to gether to gether to pinstripe!)!!!!!!!!!!! jeeez where the hell is newton....You can stop by and see me give it a try...i **** but it may help a little. plus....i ::sniffle:: need::: sniffle::: pinstriper friends..... ill see if i can get ya a pic of a box (old 40's cooler) where i spiderwebbed the side.
There is a Panel Jam at the USSC Sign World show in Atlantic City every December. USSC Sign World USA
Sometimes when I do webs I double the longer lines like a supper long tear drop but with two pointed ends. then do the conecting lines single lines. It looks pretty cool wish I had a digital camera to show you its kind of hard to describe.
Sheeit caffine, I said i would be your friend a long time ago! Newton is in Sus*** County you should come up sometime and school us.
tim you've beat me to it. haha. but yeah that would be a good idea to get together an stripe some stuff. heres the tool box, the webs are done (thanks to you guys and VonTingler, the Tarzan technique works great! ) i have a pretty good idea what im doing for the door and the tool box itself. i know the pic is kinda ****py but oh well. you get the idea.
Here's a couple of symmetrical websne on a Moon disc I had on the Safari and the other on a Candy Red bucket I painted for my wife to use in the living room as a magazine receptacle.
Hey captcal, I am not an artist at all, so I went to the party store and found decal sheets of halloween spider webs for patterns. I'll probably get my daughter-in-law to paint them on the car. Safariknut--I love the moon disc!! overspray
