I was wondering if anybody has pics/info on the Wild Bunch? Apparently they were street racers turn exhibition racers around the Maryland/Mid-Atlantic area. I was talking to a former Hot Rod magazine photographer today and he said they built a pair of cars, a Chevy Luv and a Vega, both with A/A blown alcohol dragster engines and would "race anybody for any amount of money" and raced on the streets for about three years before taking to the tracks. I'd love to know more and pics would be awesome. Thanks, Mike
I remember them. OT for this forum but go here for history and photos. http://www.stanleyandweissracing.com/thewildbunch.htm
Hey Mike: Remember them well and saw them a few times. See below. http://www.compe***ionplus.com/index.php/drag-racing/feature-stories/4922?task=view I have a few pics around will see if I can find them. Luke
There was a video out about them in the 80's. They had the first doorslammer to go in the 6's. It was a Datsun 3ooZX w/ a blown injected Hemi on alcohol. Their spokesman was Dr.Wacko a real brain surgeon at the time. He ran a Blown injected silver metalflake Jeep. In the video they were match racing a group on the East Coast that also ran blown cars, but they let dragsters and altereds run their program. The Wild Bunch were primarily Pro Mod type cars. The video's named THE WILD BUNCH!!!!!!
Thanks for the links and info; the Jeep is especially nuts! I'll have to look for that video, I checked on youtube, but couldn't find anything on them. Mike
