I've got a Kong championship distributor;these take a cap and rotor probably last made in the 40's; I'm thinking of running it on a project but you sure wouldn't want to go too far from home without spares. I'm wondering if anyone else runs these or any other nearly impossible to replace parts on a regular basis ? Any good stories of being stranded because of use of rare parts?

Be very careful. The cap is REALLY expensive. Most people overtighten it and crack it.

You could keep a spare distributor of a more common variety with you on road trips in case of parts failure.
