if its not worth watching dont worry about it. thanks anyways.

  3. Surprising how Richard Dreyfuss, Ronnie Howard and Harrison Ford went on to be really big stars but Paul didn't. I didn't think they showed any more talent in AG and it was certainly Paul who captured the imagination and admiration of the audience.

I see that he had some very good critical reviews for his other work and has won Golden Globes etc.

Why didn't he get the part of Fonzie in Happy Days? Did he not want it?

  4. I found Paul LeMat to be a down-to-earth, nice guy.
As far as his career aspirations go, who knows, maybe he achieved exactly what he wanted to achieve. Not everyone wants to be a Hollywood superstar.
As far as how he looks, I think he looks fine for his age, but then again, I am used to looking at people from the same age group....ha,ha.

Would have been " Cool " to see him in Faith Granger new movie Deude of Spades in some part

  7. That's true - I guess there are downsides to being rich and famous.

Reminds me of that episode of King of the Hill when Hank warns Bobby that he will end up like that George Clooney if he's not careful.......

Cut the guy some slack! I don't think many of us look like we did when we first saw A.G. during it's first run in the theaters. As we get older we realize that survival is a pretty good achievement. I saw him and Candy Clark at Paso years ago, and my first impression was that they were "has beens" but then I realized that this entire hobby is fixiated on the past (of our own creation)! A.G. is an iconic movie, it will go down in history and it has been so influential and responsible for lighting the automotive fire in so many people. Anyone who was involved in this movie has the right to be proud of their achievement and to receive admiration for the rest of their life.

...on a car it's called "patina", and everybody digs the aura of authenticity...

    Paul is a true "authentic".

I met Paul at Salina Lead Sled show a few years ago and he will be there this year as well. I was happy to pay $10 for his autograph and he was easy to talk to. Told me about his back surgery and pain. He walked down to our car and I could tell it hurt him to walk. He had on some dirty old tennis shoes and looked kind of rough. But he signed the dash of the car, smiled and posed for photos, and was very nice to us. Just a working class guy like the rest of us, not some big star.

    'Melvin and Howard' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melvin_and_Howard

Based on the true story of Melvin Dummar. who claimed to have picked up Howad Hughes in the desest outside of las Vegas then was named in a hand written will by Hughes.

This is one of the best movies so many have never heard of and I feel one of Paul LaMat's best work. Check it out.

Shit I thought he got killed by a drunk driver, glad to hear he's OK!

Maybe the reason he looks rough to you is cause he never ages in the movie no matter how many times you watch it. Then when you finally see him after 40 years you have the Kid visualized as you have seen him so many times. You think he will be Milner when he's real like you and I. Older too!! I thought he looked good.

I don't think he looks so bad for his age, yeah, a shave and haircut and another dye job would help. Maybe some new clothes, but maybe he is just comfortable as he is. He has a lot more hair than i do, and mine is pure white and i am three years younger. Anyone who spent time in Viet nam is allowed to look a little rougher anyway.
I thought i heard somewhere years ago that he was offered the Fonzie role , but turned it down. Maybe didn't want to be type-cast. I wish him well.

Paul never owned the coupe. I found a real cool website that was talking about what happened to the cars after AG. The stunt coordinater, I believe is was (Bob), was given the car by Goerge Lucas. He sold them, if I remember correctly. The Merc was owned by Stray Cats singer, Brian Setzer, who sold the car to some kid....who commited suicide in it. Since then , that kids dad has just let the car sit in his wrecking yard rotting away, and refuses to sell it. The Impala is doing well. Is was bought and saved. There was a lot of cool info on the site. I'll have to find it and post in on here. They said the Coupe was a piece, and through most of the movie it was being towed due to lots of problems...mainly wiring. Still, one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Although, the 55 is my favorite. Found out it was the same car from Two Lane Blacktop, which I'm sure most of you knew anyway.

Anybody checked out Harrison Ford lately. No spring chicken either.

Paul may just live within his means. Or as I hope to some day, just don't give a darn about who I impress...............:)

    Whats the site address? PLEASE!

  24. Couldnt have said it better myself! Im sure he is not getting rich doing these shows. You should have seen Bo Hopkins at Kansas a few years back, sweat pants and a sweatshirt, but a very nice laid back guy. They did a lot more impressive stuff on the screen than I ever did, in fact, probably more than anybody on this site.;)

Not sure where some of you guys think that I expected him to look like he was 30 yrs. old again... I was concerned that he may not be doing well financially, and what was the last thing I said??? Oh yeah, "Hope he's doing ok..."
