I sold a deuce pickup to a customer in the UK in 2006. He made all the arrangements. A professional car hauler picked up the truck at the shop and transported it to New York where an export company loaded it in a container and on a ship then over the Atlantic. I do remember it went right thru the process in this country but spent a few weeks in impound tied up with paperwork in the UK. All I did was signed some export papers and provided a notarized bill of sale and a signed title which I sent to the exporter. Everything went fine.

Are you selling a car to someone from the UK or is it your own car you want to bring over?

For export as above. For your own car which you’re not selling you’ll probably need a carnet.

The buyer handled it for me. A transporter showed up and loaded it, a few months later I got an email saying it arrived and he was happy. Easy as can be.

I have never sent one to the UK but have to Sweden and Germany. As has been said, the buyer made all the arrangements each time.

Same here, sold a 32 project to a guy in Sweden. He made the arrangements with an export/import company and they picked it up and shipped.

  7. Assuming shipment out of the east coast (New York, Baltimore, Charleston, or Miami), decide which is best for you, and then let the internet be your friend. Easiest is it fits into a Conex box. We shipped a small pickup to Denmark this way and out of Charleston was the cheapest. Each shipping company has specific requirements such as no fuel in the tank, and each Country has import rules. Do your research.

  10. EDIT******Sorry I did not read your last update saying you had it handled before I posted the info below!

I am not sure how often Terry (@telnic41 ) checks in these days, but he is in Essex England & I have transported 2 different cars to container companies for him. One was to a container company in South Carolina & I believe the other was to one in New York/New Jersey. It definitely takes some time for the car to arrive & there has to be a lot of trust involved because you are so far away but it happens hundreds of times a day.

Maybe send Terry a message asking for some 1st hand advice.

    God Bless

Sold one to Norway, seller payed me to arrange shipping to New Jersey, where he had made arrangements from there….was a super smooth transaction, although thankfully I was near by when the hauler showed up out of nowhere to pick my car up
