I'm waiting to get my new rear rims first. The ones I have on the car stick out too much and my tires rub.

I gave a guy in England pic's of my car so he could copy the flames. I posted the pic's on the Merc Club thread. It's pretty close, but it's a '51 and unchopped.

my 52 vicky originally had lowering blocks in the back, and the front coils were cut a turn and a quater, some guy in the 80's put it back stock, but I am going to lower it back again. I perfer a traditonal custom.

  8. So what are you going to do in your interior ? Are you going to have Kiwi do it?

I think Kiwi is the best upholsterer out there.

  11. The previous owner of my Chevy had new springs installed all around - sat like a 4x4!
Now it has a coil and a half out of the front and 3" blocks in the back. The cut coils got the car more level than I wanted ...so I have SAND bags in the trunk and always run a full tank of gas!!! Beats the hell outta the dual pipes out back, but I just had to have the tail-dragger look I remember the older guys runnin' when I was a kid.

I think the rear end could come down a little more, but i may have to take a hammer to the rims.

Seriously though, the front is at the desired height. I would like the rear a bit lower. Now all i have to do is take some measurements, pump up the tires and see how much i need to lower it...

Had the main spring blade reversed arched, took 3 spring blades out, I might drop it another inch, front end has torsion bars so I can set it where I like. Yes its a 4 dr. and I don't like bags, two strikes against me.

Finished the step notch, its a huge improvement, and it rides pretty good, haven't gotten the 3 inch jamco springs yet and the skirts need painting, but its good for now.

My '60 Olds had the reverse rake, courtesy of tired rear springs and 1 1/2 inch blocks.

so i got a question, can anybody really notice a difference with blocks in the back?
some of the guys i been talking too said like a small 1-2 inch block isnt a big deal but any more is not a safe and what not.
whats your guys's takes on this?

53, I have had the 4" blocks in for 5 years now. I have had no trouble except I have had to add Overload springs to the shocks and have gone to 5" rims. I may ad that I must be picky to what Rod Runs I attend because
parking spots must be mostly flat and must plan on speed bumps and Rail Road tracks. Hope this helps.Tom (Tired Old Man)
