Yup....my response now would be..."seeing as you cant seem to take some time out of your busy schedule to mail me the product I've paid for 2.5 months ago, send me a refund, then you wont have to worry about getting your LAZY ass down to the post office"

I dont car how much you got on your plate, unless it is specifically stated as a 2-3 month wait time, there is no excuse short of death of a loved one that would justify this and even with the death option I'd still be on the horn offering refunds...

sounds like a typical shitbag to me....

  9. You need to leave the appropriate feedback, no matter how good the parts. Glad you go your stuff though.

I hate to have to reopen this line of conversation but I need help. After viewing Dan King's work on ebay in March of 2007 I contacted Dan to ask if he could build me a set of headers for a 1953 Cadillac 331 I've got in my roadster project. He said he could, had me send him half the $$ = $175 and said he'd get right on it, and collect the other half when he finished making the headers.

He never made them. After a long time I contacted him again and he said he didn't have a pattern for the flanges but knew someone who he thought he could get some from..

After another long time I found a set of flanges on ebay and askd him what kept him from getting the flanges from that supplier. He said if I'd buy the flanges and send them to him, he'd build my headers for the $$ I'd already sent him.

I did so, for another $80.. That was in November 07. After that I heard nothing from Dan again for a long time.. Finally, after discovering the "Anyone around Spokane WA Know a Dan King?" posts on H.A.M.B., I emailed Dan and told him I'd post on here if he didn't get back to me.

He got back to me and said he'd build my headers. Since then I've had no contact with him. He hasn't answered his phone, hasn't responded to my emails, and hasn't shipped my headers.

I've offered to accept my money and flanges back, or even accept the flanges and pipes back, and would build the things myself, but nothing from Dan.

It's been over a year and I think this is getting rediculous.. Can anyone help? Anyone out there know this guy, have contact with him, can encourage him to either build me my headers or send my flanges and money back?

This guy is still doing business on ebay. I wonder how many other's he's taken money from and not done the work for..... If he'd do this to me he'd do it to others. That's what I'm thinking. I think other hotrod builders need to be warned.

    Thanks.

Thanks Jim. I appreciate that. I hate to be giving the guy a hard time, but I just don't know what else to do. I've got a car sitting out in the yard waiting for pipes and $255 invested in a set that never comes. Again, I appreciate your help.

    Richard.

Hey Toast, I was probably the guy who emailed you on ebay. I baught my headers in October. He sent them in about a month. Problem is the flanges were welded backwards. No problem everyone makes mistakes. Called him up and I send them back to him. A month goes by...nothing. I call and email with no response. Finally get him and he says they will be mailed out the following week. Another 3 weeks go by and nothing. I called him again and nothing. So I called his phone about 20 times in a row and he finally answers. Same answer, he would be mailing them out in a week. Another month goes by. Call him again and they are in the mail. I finally get them and put them on. The left side is 3 inches lower than the right side. I am not even going to send them back again because it will probably take another 6 months to get them back. You talk about shitty service. He says in his post that he has other builds, well I paid in October and got them back in March. I should have came before his new orders for his fuckup. The guy does not give a shit. He has your money.

    Hope you get your headers.

Here's how I look at it. I've bent over backwards to be a good customer. Paid on time with a smile. Since I've got nothing at all back, I'm thinking the least he could do is send me my flanges and cash back. If he's spent the cash and can't do that he should send my flanges and some pipe and I'll weld them up myself, which is what I probably should have done in the first place. The photos of his work looked good and I thought I was going down the right road with this guy. I actually discovered the H.A.M.B. sight while looking for this guy, so something good has come of it.

    Thanks.

It kind of sucks because the the first set of headers were done nice, except the flanges were backwards. I think he just got tired of me calling him and rushed the second set which are uneven. Definately loosing a lot of work because of his business ethics.

Well, I take back all the negative stuff I said about Dan, at least for the moment. Just got off the phone with him. He said his computer hs been down since he last emailed me. He took measurements over the phone, and said he'd get to work on the pipes this weekend. We'll see if he does. If he does and I get them, I'll be the first to apologize for anything negative that's come of this so far....

Yep. 'Tis. When I talked to him on the phone, he sounded like a pretty nice guy. I'm willing to be fair. It's been a long time, but I haven't rushed him much either. Now I want them. It's spring. I've got the car in the garage working on it. I need the pipes. If he makes them this weekend and gets them in the mail like he said he would, I'll be happy. If not I guess I'll be screwed, won't I.... We'll see..

if the guys product is good be satisfied . most people that do good work are and do not have all the skills of nice guys , when you work on difficult projects its tough,if you want good talking skills , they are out there you read about them in the paper and on the news all the time , they take lots of your money most of the with pen and paper not with work , you are not buying talk skill you are buying headers ,good is worth the wait .nice front people cost money, i hired one to talk for me ,and the costomer pays for him and thats you the costomer ,dont judge him judge the heaters he sounded ok to me , because if you have never been in his shoes dont judge.

I'm not judging the quality of his work. I just can't understand the lack of communication with these customers. I have been in his shoes, I sold custom grilles on ebay. If I tell someone I'll have something shipped in a week then I do it. If something comes up that causes a delay, I call or email to explain, not just radio silence for weeks on end. It's all about communication. It doesn't take that much effort to send an email.

I agree. I should have had the headers a year ago. I know and have no problem waiting for someone to build me a speciality, which this was and is, but I do have a problem with paying for something in advance, being told it was being done, and not getting it done. Dan just told me, on the phone, he was going to build the headers this weekend. I'm off Tuesday and I'm calling him that day. If they're done he should be shipping them. If not, I've got a problem with that. It's been a year. It's time to get 'em done..

Well I called him. Got his answering machine. Left a message. Still waiting..

  27. Then give him your money for a year! Its about being a person of your word, nothing more nothing less. Maybe you didn't get that speach from your father. "Good talking skills", is that your spin for lying? So where you come from if I'm good at what I do, I can get away with being a liar?

A persons word still means something up here in Montana.

I'll have to tell the "standup" guy that did this fab work, cause he is way too honest, on-time and on budget.

Holy crap! I didn't think this thread was still going. Sorry you haven't gotten yours right. He finally got me mine and they are very nice, and look perfect on the truck. I posted pics of them earlier in this thread and thanked everyone for their help. Just saw my thread pop back up and see it has been bouncing around for a while now. I guess the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I bugged him till he had to get them out and Jim and some others helped a lot as well. I see his business skills have not improved yet. Sorry for all your problems, If I can help, I will, but I don't think I have much pull with him.

Still waiting. Called three times yesterday. Left a message. I think getting him on the phone is probably the only way to get in touch with him. He said his computer is down. He said he'd be building them this last weekend. I'm going to keep calling till I get him. I want to A. hear him say they're built, and B. hear him say they're in the mail, and C. have them arrive at my door. If he built them this weekend, they should be in the mail now..... Thanks for your reply. Yours was the post that alerted me that I'd stuck my foot in it with this guy.

Yep, he told me the same crap. They were in the mail, or boxed in his truck and ready, or some crap, every time he finally answered his phone. Its all bull, so untill you see them, don't believe anything he says! Good luck!!!
