Just cut your losses and move on, obviousley the guy is a "dick". Sounds like he has a Dr Jekyl and Mr Hide thing going on. Your frustration will build....

Otherwise he is going to: 1) finish'em when he wants too, 2) ship'em when he wants too, 3) communicate with ya when he wants too! He's in the drivers seat unfortunately. At least his name is mud here on the HAMB, don't think he'll be contributing very much....

Oh I don't know. To be honest with you the money ain't such a big deal. I can build my own set of headers if I have too. But I want to hold the guy accountable.. I'm an old road hound. Spent most of my life going from coast to coast. It's not that far fetched for me to jump in a ride and strike out for the other side of the country. Only done it about a half million times..

I'm thinking I'd love to show up at his door. You know, just a little surprise.. Look him in the eyes. Tell him who I am. Have a conversation with him. I'm a little crazy that way, you know.... I don't like to be dicked around....

Something to think about... I might like a road trip.... I've done crazier things...

By the way, still no return call, and he's not picking up the phone......

Talked to Dan on the phone. Said he got them built. Said he lost my address. Was driving. Said he'd call me this weekend and get my address and ship 'em..

i had some headers made by dan a while back, they were killer! but... there was a fit problem with one side. it took me a while to get ahold of him but when i did he agreed to pay for me to ship them back and he would take care of the problem. i just sent them last week so who knows how long its gonna take to get them back.he also gave me 4 baffles for free because of the long time it took to build them the first time. i think he is just swamped with work. some of you may not agree, but in my book he's a stand up guy. he's just a very slow one.

Well, that's good to know, and I hope you're right. He sounds like a nice enough guy on the phone. I've really only got one problem with him, and that's that I paid for a set of headers and haven't gotten them after a year and two months........ That's a long time to wait for a guy who says every time I talk to him that he'll get right on it... At this point I'd be happy with my money back.. I should have just built them myself.. Lesson learned...

You all may or may not be happy to hear he finally hired some employees. He is not alone anymore which should make for faster turnaround.

hummmm.... lets all say a quick prayer for the employees! Let me guess... 1 for the phone, 1 for shipping, and one to keep the computer running!

Employees are good. Maybe he can get one of 'em to ship me my headers. Oh yea, I forgot, he said he lost my address. Well, maybe he can get one to call me and get my address, or maybe he can get one to pick up the phone so I can give it to him..

By the way, thanks for that info. If he's hiring employees, at least he's not planning on closing up shop and sitting in a cave and collecting unemployment. Glad to know he's interested in continuing to do business.... and I appreciate you passing that along...

Fairbanksbanjo, problem #1 is believing anything this guys says - he clearly 'speaks with forked tongue'. A year and two months and he has your money and you have - well zip - other than a bunch of lies?

Now here's a suggestion, which I am surprised nobody has brought up on this long running thread: this whole saga smacks of deceptive business practices. I would suggest you stop pussyfooting around and get on the web - google the WA Attorney General's Office - Consumer Affairs, download the official complaint form and fill it in. Send the completed form with any requested documentation and mail a copy registered mail, return receipt, to Dan King and watch how fast you get results.

I did this with a supplier in ME from CA and the ME AG's office got on the guy's ass - could not have been more helpful and called me many times to check on the situation. Believe you me he wanted to get the problem fixed real fast.

In this day and age of the internet and 'opaque' suppliers, the AG Consumer affairs division is your best resource as long as you have given your supplier fair opportunity to resolve the situation, keep accurate records and paperwork and do not waste their time.

I just filled out the form and got confirmation through email that they will be acting on it w/in 4 weeks. I printed a copy of the email from the Attourney General's Office, and will be sending it by registered mail in the morning. Weasel that was excellent advice. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again..

I too have been screwed by Dan King at Dan's Fabrication in Spokane, WA. I ordered my SBC zoomies on Dec 12-07 and have sent him a total of $700. He ignores my Phone calls and e-mails. Whenever I can get someone to inquire on my behalf he tells them he'll ship the next week or says he is working on them. As of today I have received zero. I had to purchase other headers for my '32 so now have a total of about $1400 invested in a set of headers. I have communicated with another screwed buyer on this site and, at his suggestion, have just submitted a complaint to the Attorney Generals office in WA. If we get all of us together who Dan has screwed maybe we can pay him a visit. Thanks for reading. No, don't end this thread-maybe it will warn someone else not to do business with him.

I went to Dan's shop yesterday. He says he has been putting in long days to catch up. I actually saw him making more than one set of headers so...

Got a letter from the A.G's office today. They've contacted Dan and given him 14 days to reply. On the phone the other day he said he'd email me a tracking number. He hasn't done that yet. Still waiting, but it feels pretty darned good to have someone working on this....

Okay, got a message on my phone with a tracking number. Apparently the headers are on their way. Soon as they get here, I'll set them up on the motor and shoot photos so everyone can see them. Funny, on the phone Dan sounds like such an okay sort of guy. Kind of weird aint' it... Reminds me of some of my crazy days when I was young.. Thanks again for all the help with this.
