I was looking to buy one of those laser welders or the solder guns advertised on the net, looks like a scam, so cheap, anyone bought one? does it work?,
I was curious also and did some reading, but nothing definite to be gleaned. Maybe someone that owns one can chime in https://www.google.com/search?q=las...YigUYQ-IDBBgAIEGIBgGQBgo&sclient=gws-wiz-serp
I would be interested to see whether they are any good or not. Just found this, so makes wonder if the ones they show are any good. What is the disadvantage of laser welding? Of all joining processes, laser welding offers the widest range of materials that can be processed. Glass or plastic, for example, cannot be joined at all by any other process. A major disadvantage of laser beam welding is the high cost of equipment. This investment must be very well thought through.24 Aug 2019
If you have a certain one or few you're looking at posting a link would help. There are plenty of real products sold on scammer sites.
I watched this one, and it seemed to work well on aluminum. $5k entry fee, zero support were the two main takeaways for me.
Metal doesn't look like it had much prep work done to it before welding it. Still love to play with one. ....
Still do, not worthless if you know two things: 1) for lead type soldering of electrical/electronic parts and wires. 2) That you know that if you pull the trigger all the way in it is in low range; high is halfway.
It all depends on what you were using a gun for. I have a Wen brand gun that l’ve used for 60+ years and it does the job every time. If you use a gun for it’s intended purpose it will be fine, but I’d keep it away from printed circuits and other delicate jobs.
