Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wayfarer, Nov 6, 2003.

  1. Building a 54 plymouth wagon...filled in the side windows and it's now a sedan delivery...desoto hood scoop...lots of shaving and filling...mustang II...currie 9" rear...four bar...should be in the paint shop by the end of next week

A 67 Camaro rear will bolt right in. Just need new u bolts and shackle plates and reweld your shock mounts. The width will work out fine, at least it did for me back in the day when I was 16.

I just picked up a very solid 1930 4 door sedan body & frame any advice on newer style front ends / rear ends that will work. Plan on a SBC powerplant per $$$$$.

    Thanks

My current project's a Wayfarer as well, but a '66 model (VC). Being reincarnated as a '64 model (AP5), which was never offered in the 'utility' bodystyle, and to be lettered up as a fake 'Factory Experimental' drag car - the 'Plymouth AstroJet'. Supercharged (or possibly turbocharged) slant six and pushbutton Torqueflite and some minor body mods. Will be my daily driver when it's finished.

Current daily driver is a '62 Valiant, stock slant six and pushbutton Torqueflite, but have a twin 2BBL carb setup for it once I get the kickdown linkage figured out and finish making the headers that will go on at the same time.
'62 seen here bringing the '66 home still carrying its original front end.

    I'm in love.
Here is a perfect example of building a beautiful custom WITHOUT having to cut the top.

I love this tread and am always happy to see it back to the top again. Any late 20's thru 30's hotrods would be a treat to see. I am still working away at mine.

exwestracer you have any more pics of the front. I am starting a build on a 51 Wayfarer with a 383/727. I am wanting to one piece the front end also so any pics of that would be nice.

  20. How come there aren't more '56 '56 Plymoths? They are cool as hell but you never see one. I saw a Savoy at Turkey Run years ago but no Belvedere's. What happened to them? And Dodges too? I see more Dodges than Plymouths. They've got to be somewhere or rusted away or turned into beer cans .. ??

  21. Gotta 54 dodge panel...flatty 6 with twin carters, functioning lakepipes, c-notched with a camaro rear end...finishing up a 54 plymouth wagon/sedan delivery which is in the paint booth today

  22. Let me know what all you want to see in detail. Bump this thread after the 22nd. I'm going to CA that week and I can get some more pics of it then.

The front is mounted on rollers with a step in the track. Pivots just behind the front bumper so it doesn't drop a mile when it's open. Plan is to use 2 Caddy electric trunklid pulls to snug it shut. Maybe I'll do a TECH on it if anyone else is interested...

This is my, er the wife's newest car. We bled the brakes last night and plan to have it on the road just in time to store it for the winter. A true survivor, 55 Desoto Fireflight with the 4 barrel 291 Hemi.

I believe the grille is '54 Chevy with extra teeth (could be Corvette teeth).
The mirrors look like clamp on peep mirrors.
