Technical Anyone ever “char” wood for decorative purposes?

I'm not much of a wood guy, but chard wool sounds interesting, as long as you don't let cook too long.

 

well I don’t have the bed installed yet. I have them put away until ready to put on the truck. I might uncover them tomorrow and post a pic.

While turning some Chinese Maple , we discovered some intruders and had to cook the wood with a heat gun. Hot as hell but didn’t char it. Made a bed frame out of it.

 

A former neighbor of mine did some wood burning using the guts of a microwave (seriously, look it up). Before he got it up and running he asked if I was interested in watching it work. My response was "only if you don't mind me dialing 9 and 1 first"

I never did see the process in action but did see the results. Interesting but not my thing. BTW, he's a former neighbor because he moved away not because things went bad while burning
