Anyone ever have a nightmare about their car?

Last night, I went out to meet a lady friend of mine in my Plymouth, and after tucking her away safely (in my bed and garage respectively), I fell asleep and had a horrible dream.

I was driving my Plymouth out of town on a roadtrip to Las Vegas to meet my folks, when I heard a metal on metal noise coming from my engine. I look down and see my oil pressure gauge is sitting at zero and the oil pressure dummy light (which my car doesn't have) is lit. So, I drove it to a shop just using the starter (this made sense somehow), and dropped it off with Chip Foose (who apparently has found himself a job changing oil since Overhaulin' has been cancelled). I come back a few hours later my engine is pulled, and my car has been cut apart for a chop. I am then told that I have to rebuild a Willis jeep (that is rusted through) if I want to get my car back. I then wake up.

I take this as a sign that I either:
A): Need to take a few days away from the garage
B): Need to stop drinking before I go to sleep
C): Need to check my oil pump.

Had a dream I borrowed my buddy's lifted K5 Blazer. Rolled it in an intersection. Flipped it back aover an took it back to him so he wouldn't get mad.

 

I have had many many cars in my life, in the hundreds and I have a dream about once a year that they are all stored in different places, but I cannot remember where. I wake up trying to remember where I parked those cars. Always seems very real.

 

Right after I rebuilt my 283, I had a dream that I started it up with no oil and blew it up.

 

I started having a nightmare about 8 years ago and can't seem to wake up from it yet! Sometimes it seems to be getting worse! Haha!

 

from your post, i take it as a sign that:

A) you are too young to be referring to any woman as a "lady friend"
B) you secretly may desire a chop top custom
C) you need to consider counseling for any dream involving chip foose


btw, i have regularly occurring dreams where my vehicles seem lawn mower powered w/ "somewhat" loose steering... takes me a few minutes when i wake up to convince myself everything's ok..

 

I was contemplating leaving the mechanical brakes on my 'A' and one night dreamt that as i drove down the road with my two young uns the brakes failed and we wiped out..37-48 hydraulics were ordered that week

 

I have dreams about coming across cars that I forgot I owned. not so much anymore since I'm down to two cars, but back when my shop was overun with old junk it happened with a certain degree of regularity

 

Occasionally I get people asking if my car is for sale - I always reply 'no, thanks' because I plan to keep it forever - basically because I have rediculous amounts of time and effort in it and it just means too much to me - something I can't replace.
So, right before leaving for Santa Maria this year, I had a dream that someone made an offer I couldn't refuse and I sold my car - one of those dreams where you wake up going 'shit, what have I done?' and have to go out and the garage at 3 a.m. just to make sure the car is still there, and even then, can't go back to sleep.
Then when I get down to Santa Maria the next day, it seemed like every other person who came up to it for the first few hours asked if it was for sale.
It really creeped me out.

 

I just installed a new engine in my F1, the night before it was the day to start it for the first time i dreamt that i started it with no oil in it and just knew i killed this brand new engine. I can't tell you how many times i checked the dipstick before i started it.

 

I dreamed that I was evading a mob driving in my O/T pickup that is my other pride and joy. When I crested the hill, the road before me suddenly turned into tight looping tracks of styrofoam like pavement over a deep abyss. I navigated the first few turns as the road underneath me caved in, but rolled it off the edge with a cute office coworker I've had impure thoughts about riding shotgun. Freaked me out but good.
Check your oil and pump.

 

Good Lord! I've had that same dream!!!!!

 

After I stripped my engine and tranny down out of my Desoto I ran out of day light and left the my block for my Desoto flat 6 on the engine stand after I attached it with just the two lower bolts and the engine hoist holding it up over night until I could get some hardware from Home Depot the next day. I had a dream that my block for my Desoto flat 6 had fell off and it crashed to the ground and shattered into a thousand pieces. I woke up and ran downstairs to my garage to check and she was OK so I stuffed some tires under neath it. I woke up the following morning and I see my block drooped over cause the hoist gave way. Whewwwwwww thank goodness for your third eye telling you somethings wrong

 

i have CRAZY dreams, mostly the car is stolen or damaged

 

I VERY rarely have vivid dreams, but when I first put my body on the rotater (one I made my self) I got up 4 times that night to make sure it was still up in the air, after the last run to the shop. My wife would not let me back into bed made me sleep on the couch!!!. Keith

 

My 34 was in my daughters outdoor wedding, I drove her from the back of the old mansion to the front where the guests were seated on the lawn, then I got out, opened her door & walked her down the (aisle)sidewalk. I had nightmares for weeks that something would go wrong, embarrass me by not starting, dieseling after I turned the key off etc. Fortunately, as my avatar shows, everything was fine.
I also used to dream that I stored a bunch of old cars somewhere like 20 years years before and couldn't remember where.

 

ssshhheeess, i own a small rod and custom shop, ive had nightmares about all of them.

 

I had one once where I apparently crashed my daily, I could vividly see the hood crinkled and the bug shield broken. I took the visor off it a few days later, it was eating up about a mile per gallon anyways... and it's now parked in a field never wrecked.

 

Actually Ford mechanical brakes rearly ever FAIL. You'd have to break all 4 brake rods and the 2 e-brake ones to be without as a single wheel cylinder or master cylinder failure would be...instantly! Highly unlikely.

They would, however, fade badly, when used in a situation where high car speed and momentum overcome their capabilities. Wider tire prints would help but severe fade is likely even if the system is correctly adjusted and has good lings and up to standard brake drums.

Ford introduced hydraulic brakes to the line in 1939.

 

I've had several cars that were nightmares ... does that count?

 

LOL this post reminds me of several crazy dream/nightmares i've had...

I was with my dad getting coffee on a Saturday morning like we always do... we were in my '62 Willys pickup and pulled up behind a van that was stuck in the middle of the rail road tracks... I see the train coming, jam it in 4 low and ram the van across as the intersection, but the truck stalls just as the train hits us.

I swear if I ever pull up behind a minivan stuck on the tracks, they're fucked!

Had another dream where I was in a '60 F100 just cruising along... I see a semi headed straight for me jackknifing, so I swerve off the road into the gravel and it puts me into an unrecoverable slide right into a telephone pole at 60mph to the driver's door. I wake up as I hit the pole... it felt real!

The worst nightmare I had was I had a really wierd point of view, almost like a camera mounted in the back window of a 50's two door hardtop... Satan is the driver and there's two kids screaming in the back seat. The driver floors it past a hundred comes up to a blind corner and doesn't even slow down... he just nails a huge oak tree at full blast... the kids are wasted in the worst way possible and Satan is looking back right at me laughing his ass off. When I woke up I was frozen and just couldn't move.

And I didn't sleep for 2 days.

I saw that episode.
it's from a new reality show the Fed has. It's a combo of Candid Camera, Overhaulin, Punked, Lost, and VH1 where are they now. They drug ordinary people and get them to act for free performing incredible feats. They even get them to pay for production expenses and then hypnotize them returning them to their lives at home

I have one were my brakes fail in my 46 and I smash into a pole...

In another, I have 4 or 5 cars I used to own... come back in the exact same condition I sold them in... and then one gets stolen.

Then I have this dream where I'm a train going into a tunnel... WTF does THAT mean?

I have a dream that I can get a nice hotrod built before I become an old man. Uh-oh, too late. Seriously, I did dream once that I built a roadster, but man...it was the crappiest-lookin' rusted pos you ever saw.

I have dreams were I am going somewere like Paso in one of my cars and I have everything in order. I'm talkin to the dudes makin sure all is a go. Fixin on the car and gettin ready to roll. Bust my ass till the nite before we get goin. Like a montauge in a movie . And then I wake up all amped and ready to go. Its all worked out in my mind, and then I realize I don't have that car anymore, its monday afternoon and I'm late for work.

I also have in depth dreams about how I' gonna make a bracket, or how to fix a problem I've been workin on. Most of my cars I'll build in my sleep first, work the angles and all the ways I could make it better. Wake up the next day and knock it out. Some of my best Ideas came in my sleep.

 

Sounds to me you fellows may get to much sleep. I work two jobs and only get about 4-5 hours sleep. I haven't had a dream in many years. Cars or not.

 

I have these dreams where every cool old car I've ever owned are all parked together in one spot, ready for me to cruise, the only bad thing is they're all still in the condition I left them in.
