I think that's what it was called, anyay... I was watching "Mail Call" and they were showing these firefighters using these "petrogen" torches to cut metal... Apparently, it runs on gasoline, and 2 gallons is about the equivalent of 350 Cu. Ft. of Ox/Ac gas... The thing was VAPORIZING the metal that they were cutting, but it also looked really controlable... They were cutting some really thick steel, too... Anyone using this kind of set-up to cut metal...??? Or maybe someone out there has some more info on this...???
yeah, i found their site after posting this... I can't find how much they go for, but this set-up sounds kick-*** and cheap as hell...
I work in the shipyards and we do huge steel jobs and use natural gas and oxygen, we had a rep bring us out one of those and it was really durable but a real pain in the *** you had to keep priming the tank and eventhough they say its safe it makes ya nervous havin a gas tank right next to ya. It worked okay on rusty **** but it did not burn the thinner **** as good(1/2" and smaller). also the torch was heavy and kinda awkward after hours of heavy s****pin your arms got tired of holden it up. I spend a lot of time on the end of a torch and I prefer good ole gas and oxygen. just my 2cents FED
yeah, i noticed that it looked like you had to keep adding pressure to the tank.... But, it still seems like it's cheap as hell....
