If you had a mandrel that you could bend some round tubing. That would be easier. Then cover the frames with foam and stuff.....

  6. I remember you. You had some trouble siging in last time.
If I translated what your asking correctly, no I haven't built any, but yes they can be done. That's the way a lot of boat seats are made.
Now stuffing them may be a problem, depending on just where you plan to stuff them. [IMG]

Way back when, one of the little books had a neat article on making bucket seats fron shopping cart frames. Looked pretty good when they were done. Use your imagination...

I do have acess to a mandrel bender maybe that is the way to go? [IMG] I just thought maybe it would be easier to make some custom seats myself rather then to recover some old ones.

If you are more comfortable with wood then that's what I would use. Me? Never...I can't build jack with wood....everytime I hit it with the torch it goes away?? [IMG]

I used to build seats for the Shelby Cobra and they were constructed with a round tube frame and skinned in .040 aluminum and riveted on or had a rubber bladder stretched across them that was anchored at the corners. We also made a copy of the earlier seat out of fiberglass. I also made copies of a Porsche RSR racing seat. Your question about it being easier to build a completely new seat rather than recovering an old seat, I would say it's way easier to recover the old seat even if it needs substantial repair.
