Anyone ever put a t-5 behind a Hudson 308?

My trans makes a crazy noise when it 1st 2nd and reverse, it's quiet in 3rd so I'm exploring options for a newer maybe more effective transmission. I've read about an adapter for a 700r4 but would rather have a stick shift. Thoughts? Ideas? Cheap stock Hudson trans for sale?

A friend of mine runs a T5 behind his 251 Mopar, in his Ply. He has had to replace it a couple of times. The T5 does not like all that torque in high gear. Hope this helps. Hud
