I’ll try what I have first, I do agree 220 would be better. I’ll test run the welder in the shop, then on the generator. If I’m satisfied, cool, if not the kid can list it up and I’ll go to plan B.

You got any spare car batteries sitting around? I know this doesn't answer the question about using a MH generator, but the off-roader guys carry welders for emergency trail side repairs that work off 12v batteries; Charge the batteries up, haul 'em out to the job and connect the welder and get 'er done. http://www.trailweld.com/

There are even some self contained "suitcase" welders that require no external battery at all, it's all in the box; simply open the lid, unwind the cables, connect the ground clamp and start welding. A bit more expensive though: https://karnagewelder.com/shop-now/ols/products/karnage-welder

No extra batteries around here, well none that would hold a charge.
I’m not try to be a tight wad, but most likely will be a one time use thing. Thought of renting a gas powered welder, but gets expensive real quick if I have to keep it overnight and finish the next day.

But I did watch a MacGuyver episode where he welded up a connecting rod for a generator with just bare rod using the generators battery :)

Using jumper cables and two nickels! Awesome!

I have a real nice Miller Bobcat in my garage on a trailer! You are welcome to borrow it……mileage ….might be a problem! Lol o_O

Lol. I bet that old Miller I have predates yours;)

But sad news on the home front for me, went to jump the MH generator I’d put on a trailer, ya, been a few years since I used it, Ofcourse the motor is stuck.
So off to plan B, I’ve a few other generators, 3500 watt I think, with tired motors, so will see what I have here that runs, wait till a cooler day off and get one running.
