i just wanted to ask because i can get this stuff really cheap from my work. the painters at my work says it's very good paint, inf fact one person said it's better than PPG. but i don't know if they're telling the truth because they have to use it. does anyone know if this is good or bad paint? thanks a lot.
I got my '67 Camaro painted with Glasurit base coat/clear coat metallic about 13 years ago. I sold it a couple of years later, but see the current owner every now and then and it still looks like it was done yesterday.
Glasruit is really high quality stuff. I've done several jobs with it, awesome shit. Gettin a little hard to find all the stuff though, Standox is getting popular these days.
The body shop I worked in during High School used it. We did alot of Acuras and stuff, when they first came out. It is real top of the line shit. The MS high solids primer I think is better than the PPG K series. It is super high build and sands really easy. Truly liquid bondo! Jay
We used Glasruit Rallye Black as a top coat in '97. It's held up really well to all kinds of weather and salt.
i would venture to say it is probably one of the best out there. and yes it is WAAAYYYY better than ppg.....my only issue with it .is its hard to find and expensive.....otherwise it rules!.....if he can get it for you cheap . get it!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a BMW bike finished with 21 line Glasurit. stuff laid down so nicely it didn't even need color sanding! good stuff.
I agree with Donnie......it is expensive.........about $500 a kit over here, but very, very forgiving.......I like the single stage black......you can color sand and buff it out to a glass like finish...... it works good for suspension parts too.....almost like spraying on liquid plastic....
thanks guys. i wanted to get some input before i bought anything. i work at Krystal Koach, which builds limos, hearses, coach buses and all they use is BASF products and i can get it at the company's cost. thanks again guys. donnie, i was to have you paint my car would you be willing to use it if i supplied the paint?
TOP LINE STUFF!!!!!!!!!! I've been using the 21 line (single stage urethane) on my engines for quite a few years. The clears are extremely durable and chemical resistant. ABSOLUTELY "overspray" reccommended!!
donnie, i was thinking of a flat black body/roof with lime green metal flake flames. what do you think? BASF has a really nice lime green that they use on the Jeep Wranglers.
