I want to teach myself how to gas weld sheet metal patches. Most of what I have read says use a #00 tip. Well my old Craftsman brand torch must have been made by Harris because thats what kind of tips it takes. Harris does not make a #00 the smallest they make is #0 which is recommend for 1/64" which is only .015. The number 1 tip says its for 1/32" or .031

Are there recommentions right for the real world? I have to special order so I don't want to waste money of the wrong one that will just collect dust in the tool box. I'm thinking the #1 will be the way to go.

  2. I use a #1 on sheet metal. you can always pull away an inch or so if you see the weld getting too hot
