Since Jeff was took over the kustoms of America he has done everything in his power to make it a Kustom club of old.For a long time K.O.A was pretty much a joke, but I think finally it is going to be turned around. The new owner is listening to the people at the show and it is becoming the club it was before the last owner took it over.Come check it out at the fairground in Lima ,Ohio. Check out the new website at www.kustomsofamerica.com
Tell Me More I Clicked The Link But Did Not See Any Info On The Event In Lima . Thats A Big Weekend Though. You Got Cars And Parts In Springfield And Lot Of Other Smaller Events In Little Towns ****tered Across The State.......
IM going to the cars and parts swap meet that saturday and the HAMB meet and greet, then if IM not broke IM going Sunday. Its at the Allen County Fairgrounds, Lima Ohio where the Rebel Run is held every year. Its very easy to find and near the highway.
If I don't go to Paso, I'll probably be there. Gene Winfield I guess is going to be there as well. I hope the KOA pulls itself together, there are too many cool cars in the organization to faulter.
Gene was at myrtle Beach but he is going to Paso.He wouldn't miss paso it is too big of a draw for him there.Bailon will be at Lima if he is feeling better. He did not show for the beach because he was ill.I hope he gets well soon. The lima show has got to be a pretty good show.Leroy from Rebel run has been helping Jeff with it and he puts on a heck of a show in Lima. I hope to see you there...I have a booth there ,we can have a meet and greet there on sunday.
i know i am showing my age here but is this like the ols Kustom Kemps of America that used to have shows here in southern ohio. my dad and his friend used to take his 48 chevy to it. got it in one of the old mags. I love the cars at these events, if it is i'll try and go. thanks for the help.
When I first started going to the K.O.A shows in 1996,it was held in Indiana.Gene Winfield,Steve Stanford,Joe Bailon, and many more were there.I would have to say there way at least 500 or more real kustoms. They gave away a nice kusto car at the end of the year. They had flame throwing contest and 50s style bands playing every night.Lots and lots of fun. The last double Date I went to before Jeff took over the club. There was at the most 80 cars in which at least 40 was fast and furious style. No give away car,no fun games ,no swap meet,no car vendors,no fun at all. Jeff is trying his best the get it all back. Please get on his site and give him suggestions.
Kustoms Of America is a totally different organization then Kustom Kemps Of America. Kustoms Of America was formed in 1949 by George Barris.
I myself am looking forward to new blood in this ailing club.I love kustoms and anything that will take part in keeping the culture alive is OK with me. That is why I became a director again after leaving the club for a few years.I am sure all the directors feel the same way.
yeah, i saw this after we made plans for a meet and greet in dayton. Anyone going to or from this event is welcome to stop in, I am 5 minutes form I-75 exit 68, just 1 hour south of the Lima show. Killer, stop by on your way to or from. have fun. here is a link to the meet and greet near Dayton http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169100&highlight=blktopbandit
That is not that far from me either. I may try and make it. With the new leadership may even rejoin again.
I plan on going but what are the dates? The entry form states May 24 thru 26. That's Thursday thru Saturday, weird dates for a holiday weekend.
I'm pretty sure I am in. Hopefully I will even get to drive one of my cars. If I do I better bring tools.
I went there was not a lot of cars there, but there some nice cars there. It is a very nice park and was a good time. I thought the people in charge now done a good job. Being the first year and not a lot of people knowing about it was ok. Hopefully it will get better each year.
