My 37 had pete and jakes clutch/brake pedal assembly which put both pedals on the inside of the factory xmember. I've got a set of 40 pedals showing up today and I'll have to cut the firewall for it. I'm just wondering if there are any good tips for cutting the firewall for the pedals. Maybe its no big deal but with them being on an arc it seems like it could be something tricky.

    Thanks

What kind of car are the 40 pedals going into? Is it the 37 and you are replacing the Pete and Jake unit?

any how, the vertical part of the arm should be hind the floor/ firewall and the hole is only for the “horizontal” part of the pedal. In a stock setting they typically fall inside the toe board area. Or maybe just proud of it splitting the difference half in the firewall and half in the toe board.

I would mock them up a few times and if it looks like it’s in the toe board completely I would build a cardboard toe board and test the hole shape and placement in that

Make a cardboard pattern of the pedals but make them short ones that just go up to the floorboards

Thats a pretty good idea to just cut out partial sized pedals out of cardboard. I did get the stock 40 pedals today and they actually have the same arc as the pete and jakes so the brake pedal fits the same hole. The clutch pedal will need to be cut so I'll try the cardboard idea for locating it.
