I have asked this and gotton mixed reviews, I am doing the metalwork on my 51 F1 and don't want to prime it just yet. I am keeping the surface rust under control using Ospho and letting it sit for about 10-15 min then wipping it off before it dries. I have been told by a local body shop and paint store (same place) and he told my he has had no issues doing it. Anyone else had good/bad luck doing this?

    Thank you, Mike

I have been using OSPHO for about a year. I always let it activate the metal and wipe off the non dried portion with a dry rag, I let it cure for at least two or three days after wiping it down. Have never had a bleed through or any indication of rust back. Always use a good epoxy primer over the ospho and then a good sealer/surfacer before painting.
