Has anyone had any experience with Phoenix Engines in Arizona.

I am looking into buying one of their dyno'd Chevy 350 engine combination. What can you tell me about them and their engines?

It is.... chassis is all done, fuel and brake lines installed, fuel tank in, currie 9 inch installed..... still waiting for the Chassis Engineering rear springs (Ordered in August!) (borrowed a set from a friend for mock-up). Monster transmission is on it's way.... Placed body on chassis this weekend for firewall/toe boards/trans hump/ steering column install.

If you Google their name up pops some complaints and negative feedback from unsatisfied customers. It could be because they sell lots of motors and you are always going to get a few unhappy people statistically, or, it could be legit and they sometimes sell crap and don't stand behind it.

It's a coin toss, but if it were my money I would look elsewhere. I just believe where there is smoke ther might be fire sometimes. We had a similar problem with two 460 Ford motors we bought at my job from Eagle Engine Sales..........neither one would get oil to the rockers on fireup. Had to take both back and fight to get our money back.

There are so many good crate engine guys out there to pick from, especially sbc, that you should have no trouble finding one without all the bad press.

the only person i ever knew that used them got a stock sbc from them more than 15 yrs ago. it didnt last, ended up having some questionable machine work in it and 2 of the pistons were installed backwards. they have been in business forever and i'm guessing the hi-po stuff is assembled better however they dont have a good rep at least as far as i've ever heard so take it for what its worth

I believe that’s the same company a friend of mine bought a 383 ci Chevy from a few years ago. The dyno sheet he got from them was a “desk top dyno” print out.
He did get the engine fired up, ran ok; but as far as the quality is concerned I can’t comment.

Geno, give this link a look http://www.tuffdawgengines.com/SBC Stroker.htm they have been here in Phoenix almost 50 years,I have bought parts from them myself. They offer a good warranty and most engines are available as "turn key" so they are already broke in and tested.Thumbs down on Phoenix Engines and Five Star which both sell on ebay.
