I haven't used them, but every one of their trucks I've ever been around on the highway drives like hell.

I work for an elevator co in Augusta Ga. and they have a national account with DHL. I am responsible for the weekly time for five employees and myself to be overnighted to Atlanta so paychecks could be cut. In the last year alone they lost our time package six times, not to mention the other parts and such that did not show up on time and left us trying to explain to customers why. I have since started using the BIG BROWN TRUCK and have had no problems. Also my wife was using DHL to ship her E-BAY sales and had numerous problems also. AQnyway good luck on the drums!

DHL is absolutely the worst, most screwed up, incompetent, idiotic, outfit in the known universe. Plus their vans are uglier than hell. There drivers all have had lobotomies and their management people are total f+*k ups. Other than that I guess they are alright.

I forgot about that with my DHL Saga!
I shipped the packages through work. They were delivered to MY door two days later (I live 13 miles from the office...they musta had one hell of a round trip).
THAT was when all the fun began! I happened to be home for lunch when she came, and asked me to unload a really heavy package from her truck. I explained that I was the "From:" written in big Sharpie marker on the box, not the "To:" written in the center of the face of the box.
    It went downhill from there.

  9. I called customer service and eventually wrote letters. It happend to me several times. Fortunately, the clerk at DHL wrote the "Air Bill Number" on all my checks.

Here is the text of my last letter to them.

Got a return phone call, left on my machine, telling me everything was OK and I did not owe them anything.

Couple of days ago I got a junk mail from them wanting to know why I was not using their services. High gloss puppy. Must be a lot of people reconsidering.

    Dear Mr. Mullen,

You win. I quit. Although I am more satisfied with the shipping services I have received from DHL I must acknowledge that there is no place in your customer base for someone like me.

Who am I? In addition to being DHL customer 788745971 (I know this from the invoices you send me) I am a retired gent who tinkers with old cars. And as and adjunct to this hobby I buy and sell parts on eBay and other internet market places. Nothing big, one or two transactions a month.

I started using DHL because the agent in Jonesboro is convenient to me and, unlike UPS, they are open during the late morning, lunch hour, and early afternoon. I continued to use DHL for these reasons and because I found the rates favorable and the service first rate

So why am I giving up on you? Simply put, it is your business practices. They may work for the big guy. But for me they are a real pain. What am I talking about? Let’s look at one of my transactions. I go to the DHL office. I fill out an “Air Bill” and my parcel is weighed. The agent cites a shipping cost or fee and I write a check for this amount. The agent annotates my check with the Air Bill number. I leave. My parcel is delivered. A month or so later I receive an invoice for the shipment. The amount is greater than the amount your agent cited and the invoice does not reflect or credit the amount I paid at the time of shipment. I write a letter and attach it to the invoice stub along with a copy of the canceled check and send it to you. Well, not you, someone in Houston. And that is the end of it.

Given the number of times this has happened I should have picked up on your subtle message “We don’t want your business.” But I am a slow learner.

Here is what took me over the edge. First, Invoice U1561265. On February 22 I sent you a letter and a copy of the canceled check do***enting the fact that I paid at the time of shipment. I just received a second invoice for this shipment. I have again, this date, sent a copy of the canceled check to Houston. Hopefully this case will be closed. Second, Invoice U5548701. A new bill for an old pre-paid shipment with a new twist. In addition to a higher shipment fee this invoice also bills a $10 “ID Service Fee” what ever the “blip” that is. For want of a better word, let’s just call it the last straw.

I don’t want you to think that I am mad or that I have some animus with the people at your Jonesboro terminal or with DHL in general. What I am is done with you all. No matter how good your services are the overall package is just not right for a little guy like me.

So, I ask that you ensure that the two invoices noted above are closed out without further involvement on my part. In return, I will agree to use UPS, USPS, and FedX for my future shipping needs.

    Sincerely,

    STEVEN R. HANSEN

Nice letter. Did you ever hear anything back?

  12. Just that phone call left on my machine.

  13. I've been using FedEx on smaller stuff. Never a problem. Sounds like DHL is not the way to go on large items - have yet to ship anything super huge though.

  14. Same here, DHL blows. They say they deliver **** they never delivered, if they woulda been here, my cameras would have recorded it. They're lying sacks of ****.

I bought a tunnel ram and side mounted carbs with the fancy linkage from a speed shop(used).DHL dropped it or something and bent the linkage up so bad it couldn't be fixed.the box looked like it was ran over by the DHL truck.I call them, they said they couldn't do anything about it because the guy that I bought it from was the one who insured it(even though I paid 4 it)so he had to file the claim.after talking to the guy he said he would take care of it.weeks go by.after talking to DHL they are going to have someone look into it????a guy from dhl came to my house .looks at it, says ''YES IT'S BENT" no ****.tells me he will give the go ahead to send a check.not to me but to the guy I bought it from.??then he has to send it to me.the guy I bought it from tells me he's sorry for all the **** thats has happened and goes ahead and buys the $100.00 and change linkage his self before the check comes to him.sends it ???DHL I wait and wait it never shows.I call the guy he says it was shipped out and DHL say they had already dropped it off.2 days later I call the guy back,he says that I'm trying to scam him and I already got the linkage.after me and him rip at each other with every 4 letter word we could come up with I call DHL back and give it to them.within 2 hours my linkage was here.the *** hole DHL driver took it to a house on the other side of town and left it on a porch.he went back and it was still sitting there.first time I ever had a run in with DHL and it will be the last.weeks of waisted time

    UPDATE...

F#*&$alskdfhrs**CK!!!!!!!!!! It's been almost a month and NO DRUMS!!! They called me and asked that I contact the shipper (whome I paid up front) to have him file a claim. Since they're insured for $100 he'll get the $100 + the $32 shipping back ($132). So THEN I have to call/email him to beg for my money back! I paid $30 for the drums plus the $32 for shipping, so I'm sure he'll refund the $62 and keep the other $70 for himself and not compensate me for all the BS I put up with calling DHL every day AND having to contact him and NOW I will have to go look for ANOTHER SET 37-39 Ford drums!!!!

      !!!!!

So now I need some advice. If the guy decides to go ahead and NOT refund the money (I paid PayPal) how should I go about things? DHL gave me a phone number, but I've started with an email today. If he decides to be a jerk and just stiff me, am I out of luck all together or will PayPal go to work for me using records from DHL? Would I have to stick the "HAMBafia" on him?? Would the local PD give a **** about $62?

I know $62 is not much, but it's the principal behind the thing that counts...

The shipping contract legally is binding between the shipper and the carrier. This is the reason any claims must be initiated by the shipper, and also the reason any claims that are paid out will be paid to the shipper. It can get sticky for sure. But if the shipper is honest, then they should reimburse the shippee in a reasonable manner.
