BPD...so that means you might consider hooking me up with the Haint-ed House stuff? [IMG]
    In a non-profit, non-proprietary sense, of course.....

Without getting into a rant here, I'd be pretty bummed if I worked for House and came across folks passing my fonts around. I don't know if you have personal issues with House, but I've found them great to work with -- and car guys, too. They've pulled some killer fonts together and packaged them a lot more creatively than other font houses -- so generally I think they ought to be supported. Just my 2 cents.

I agree. I've bought a few fonts from them too. I've spent more on fonts than both my '36 and Fairlane combined. I just upgraded to system X, and upgraded Illustrator, Photoshop. Quark, InDesign, Flash, etc, etc. My upgrade/font budget is now depleted.

  10. The people at HOUSE seem really cool...I requested 1 catalog and they keep sending me updated ones even though I never ordered anything. I'm just so far behind the times/technology that I keep hand drawinng all my lettering. [IMG]

The House guys are my idols. I'm serious, I'm a packaging and branding freak and they're the kings at it. Also they are just great guys. I've talked to them several times at tradeshows. Basically they RULE!

Ohh... and about House. They are cool and all that, but they did rape Ed Roth a little bit... I built Ed's site using their fonts (that Ed Designed) and they came to me wanting money for them. I thought that was a riot...

Best font house in the USA? Test Pilot Collective.

Ryan, I'm still using my 8 year old version of Fontographer. But, I'm not using OSX any more since I left the printing world, just W2000, Mac7.1 and Mac9.sumpthin. It's Mac based and still works on my system 9 stuff. If you can afford it, I HIGHLY recommend it. You can make custom fonts for corps too. Stick all their logos in a typeface and let the illiterate users go to town with it.

Oh yeah...the Ed Roth situation was not so great from what I understand...You also can't ignore the fact that 150. for a set of fonts lifted from Famous Monsters magazine and Aurora Models is high...How about 200. for a set of fonts lifted from comic books, plus a cigar!

I have never spent much time looking BUT if, while traveling thru fontland, any of you guys ever come across a font that has flames, or a racing type theme, please let me know. Only intested in free ones at this point. It's not for business purposes, just for my scrapbooking hobby. I'm just finishing up my Austrailia scrapbook and will be starting on one that includes my salt flat visit and HAMB Drags. I'm hoping to have it done in time to share at the next HAMB drags. Needless to say, it will have a hot rod type theme so fonts that fit the bill would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan check out a utility called TransType by Fontlab. You should be able to find the latest version on versiontracker.com for OS X or 9.2.2. They also make a product called Fontlab 4 that has the capability.

PM me if you need help.
