Hey is anybody interested in building a 51 mercury that mirrors my car being built? If so PM me for more details.
Very cool!... I'm sure they'll accept the mods for using "grain of wheat" light bulbs or micro LED's, Correct??
Jim, those lights look great. I took the lid off 3 1/8 scale kit boxes today. Now that im done with the HAMB "customs build off", its time to get busy. Dont forget to watch out for the build off, coming to the main page in the coming days. Be sure to vote.
This one is not done by me but I thought you guys that are into the large scale stuff would enjoy it? The guy who did it is a retired machinist and many of the parts are done in brass then chrome plated and aluminum. Needless to say the guy is really talented.
I forgot to mention that the radio is functional. The whole car is powered with working headlights and tail lights and horn. Functional steering and it even moves under it's own power by 6-volt electric motor in the trunk. If you notice the cockpit proportions are a little off but that is the way the original manufacturer made it. here is a photo of an original model taken in 1958. http://www.jrcentral.com/images/58fury5.jpg
Here is another one for you large scale fans. This one started life as a convertible and was made into a coupe. We do not know who the original builder was only that it turned up in SoCal traded into a low rider shop for some work on a car. Whoever did the modifications went through a lot of work to change a well detailed original car into a extremely detailed version by mocking up a full motor to scale that even carries California smog control components and a bucket seat interior that the original did not have. It has since been fully restored.
Here is the car as it looks today, all restored to the way the mystery builder made it so many years ago with just a color change from gold to this color. And here is what the car looked like when it left the manufacturer. http://www.jrcentral.com/images/66mustang8.jpg
New guide 682-C headlights for your enjoyment. Cast to have no parting lines for a nice clean look. They are bottom mount with a 2mm stud & nut for mounting. Also available in side mount without the stud but they have stands that the buckets mount to.
Here is some pic's of the 1/6 r/c Ford coupe I got a few days ago. I didn't have it out of the box for three minutes and I was taking it apart I just put it in gray primer for right now, not sure what the plan is for it. I have another one coming should be here in a few days.
So this is what I came up with for the 59 Caddy tails. What do you all think? Should I cast them? Don't laugh! I was at work when I painted this & all I had was a red sharpie & a can of chrome spray paint. I painted the chrome with a toothpick because that's all I had. I'm sure you all can do way better at painting them then I can. They will be cast in clear (transparent) red. Then all you would have to do is paint the base & teeth chrome.
Sorry, should have been clearer. This site, the hamb modlers group. Wrong scale for this thread, i know, but worth checking out. Jim, tail light will look great in transparent red. Great work.
Nice work, looks great. must look even better in person with actual size. How long before production and how much? Gene
Thanks guy's As for better in person? What you see is what you get...LOL But I think it will look better in the transparent red (& someone else painting it). I need to get it into rubber, make about 10 good copies then dip them in rubber for the final mold. When you mix up the clear you want to have enough cavities to fill. You really don't want to waste the clear because it is expensive. So I would rather have too many cavities then too much resin (Make sense?) I should have them ready by next weekend. I think these would look great frenched into just about any 1/8th car. As for the cost I was going to put them up on FEEBAY for $12 a pair & see what happens. FEEBAY is killing me with all it's FEEEEEES! Than ya got paypal. I can do better off FEEBAY but where else can you find the audience they have. Kinda gotcha by the balls. But as long as people keep buying them I will keep selling them. Most of the money I get goes into research & development so I can keep bringing these things to the table for all you builders out there. So go build something! PS Sorry for the rant.
I got the red lenses sorted out. What do you guy's think? Should add a new look to the back of all those cars you guys build. The pictures are taken with the masters so the chrome you see there (actually polished aluminum) will come as resin. But some chrome paint or BMF & you should be in business.
How about some new & improved E&J Type 20 headlights? I haven't figured out how the make the lenses look "CORRECT" but they are still not bad...I don't think. Course I'm bias!
I like the custom bullets and the '50 Pontiac lights... I might order some once I get back to work...
So here is an update on the 36 Ford and Willys coupe, I painted the Ford a satin black with a gold-bronze metal flake which I think looks really good. I went for more of a cartoon setup with the Willys I got my hands on a 1/6 427 and I have been modifying the car and engine to fit , it will sit lower then right now. What do you guys think of them?
