Anyone in the Waterloo, IA area?

I'm coming to town this weekend to visit with family and wondered if there are any good cruise spots around there on Saturday night?

 

Cedar Falls Dragway is 10 minutes north of there. This weekend is the "Night of Fire"....nostalgia program. Funny car qualification Friday night, full program Saturday evening. Funny cars, gassers, exhibition passes, usually by Arnie Beswick.

 

Yeah, I saw that one. I'm bringing my race car so we were going to go to CFR on Friday night for some test passes but I didn't want to spend the $95 entry fee for Sat. I'd rather just do some cruising around town on Sat. night. Are there any burger joints or anything that people hang out at?

 

When I lived there in the late 70's, University Ave. between Waterloo and Cedar Falls was the place to cruise. It looked like the movie American Graffiti on Fri and Sat nights. Mostly muscle cars though. I have no idea what goes on there now. Went to a high school reunion 9 years ago there and it was kind of depressing. Lots of businesses shut down on University Ave.

 

A little car show on Fri evening in Dunkerton, just NE of Waterloo. I plan to go. Might still be some ricers on University but I don't know, I haven't cruised there in years.

 

i'm about 45 min north of there ! don't know of anything going on though ! i'll prolly be in my shop thrashing on my 28 roadster pickup if ya get that bored you wana check it out !
