I came across these Halibrand wheels a week ago and apparently they've never been mounted on a car. Just below the Halibrand text on the wheel, there is a number....3001. The wheels are true knock offs and they've been stored inside for years. I'm no expert...are these Magnesium or aluminum? The cast portion is very chalky and the polished lip has a few pits, but nothing major. Fronts are 15x5 inches and rears are 15x9 with approximately 6 inches of backspacing. I'm going to try to fit them to my '64 Corvette, but if they don't fit, I guess I can sell them...I wonder what they're actually worth? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks....here's a couple photos. I've seen similar wheels used on a '63 Corvette Grand Sport race car...they were also knock offs...of course, they didnt have the polished rim.
they look aluminum ...but ... could have been from the early 90's as that style of wheels was being made by halibrand.....neat setup...definently worth trying on your vette.... brandon
gonna agree that they are 80-90's wheels because they look to be 2 piece, aluminum not mag. still a really good looking wheel though
PS engineering had some of the halibrand patterns from all of the moves. They make a wheel like this that has the cast center and then they use an outer wheel. If this is a two piece wheel it is probably one of theirs. These are the wheels SO Cal uses in their pin drive applications if i am not mistaken. Which i could be. Nice wheels. Are they five or 6 pin pattern. If they are five they are probably the later wheels.
I actually contacted Richard Lejuerrne at Halibrand about these wheels. He said the 3001 casting was originally for AC Cobras and all were made 15x5.5-inches. Some were narrowed and some were widened in the later years of production. He gave me an idea of the wheels' value. Super nice guy. He helped me out a bunch. They didn't fit the Corvette so I sold them to a guy in Pennsylvania. Hauled them up there in a rental car on my way to NSRA Nats East--that Nissan smelled like a tire store.
