Hey guys, ive been stuck on this 4 a bit but now its officially time to buy motor mounts for my 54 customline. Its going to have a 302 in it backed by a t-5 trans. I saw these from Speedway Motors and want to know if these would work. They might need t******* or adding, but who knows.... http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Ford-Weld-In-Motor-Mounts,1376.html **Anyone have any opinions on it, or do you guys know of any other place that carries something better?I wanna buy it this week. thanks in advance! -Nick
For putting a 302 in YBlock car, you can use stock Ford mounts. Take your pick - the following should work (so I am told). 64-65 289 Fairlane 76 F150 302 84 Lincoln MkVII (302) These are supposed to be 1 inch taller than the above so you don't have to use a spacer between the mount and the block
I used the MK VII mounts this will give you the needed clearance at the A-frame,an AOD will sit right on the '54 crossmember and bolt right up, with the T-5 you will be doing some fabricating but several guys here have done it so check intros for advice.
Thats cool, but where would you be able to get the lincoln mounts? Or do you have to search the junkyards? I checked autozone, but i think they only sell lincoln motor mount pads and not the mounts. And another one i stumbled on was this motor mount kit, anybody try this one from JAMCO? Would this work since its supposably made for our cars... http://jamcosuspension.com/products/sfID1/3/productID/161 Thanks once again
The part number you need at Autozone or O'Reilly are ANCHOR 2725 and 2726 these will sit on the stock '54 -56 Frame mounts that's all you need,I sent you a pm with my email so I could send you pics.
You can also try Gearheads Cruiser Products, a little on the "pricey" side, but very knowledgeable and I believe that they sell the trans crossmember as well for your application. I used the Speedway ones and had good results. I am running a '69 C4 and basically cut up the stock C4 mount and my stock '54 mount to make one out of both.
