Was this car at the NSRA North Nat’s last September ? I’m vaguely recalling seeing it or another like it on a trailer in the east lot. The vinyl top jumps out of my memory.o_O

  2. No. This car has been in storage since 2013.

I plan to have it ready to go again this spring.

Potentially Back to the 50s, Iola, NSRA in Louisville. Some local runs.

    • Lots of hits and misses on this. Put a .45 to my head and **** it, I'm still not putting a vinyl top on a 36 3W. That's my biggest turn off. This car SCREAMS 70s build. Whitewall tires, wheel covers, bucket seats from who-knows-what, don't forget the spotlights, etc, etc, etc. Now before you all go "**** OFF JOCKO THIS CAR IS AN ICON!!!" I'll say I do have a warm and fuzzy place in my inner sanctum for most things 35-6 Ford 3W. But its a disservice to one's self to simply bend a knee and offer to kiss the ring of any old survivor build for the reason that its an old survivor build. Am I wrong on this? Ok, suppose we were all in some shop after hours and BS'n about what we'd do with 'X' 36 3w and this was one of the plans? Would it go over with a swooning applause and approval or be respectfully laughed off? "I'd chop it and add a vinyl top..." Yeah right. It's kool we still have it, but let's fill the tank and get it headed back on a "proper" road. They were not all top 10 hits. This one's a local 1 hit wonder at best but I do love seeing survivors, so there's that...

Yup, really local. Lived in Allen Pk as a kid, remember their apt complex by Mr Fresh;)

@Tim Nobody pissed in my cheerios. The day we can't express an honest opinion around here is the day you see me leave with a finger overhead. It isn't all that, and I DID SAY it's kool it's still around. Excuse me if I don't felate the fkn tail pipe just cuz it's an old hot rod. BTW, your corn flakes look a little soggy...o_O

I just don’t see anyone going over the moon about how cool it is, just trying to figure out what those hubcaps are mostly. So a long reply about being able to say it’s lame felt kinda out of left field is all.

  10. Y'all bring up some good points. If I had a blank canvas '36 3-window to start from. Would I build this car? Probably not. Especially the vinyl top. But in my opinion, the car has been around long enough the way it is I feel kinda funny changing a bunch of stuff. But time is on my side. The build is over 50 years old. It will get driven. Inevitably the vinyl top will start to show its age. Then I will start to make some changes.

Side note....the tires are over 20 years old and need to be changed....What are some opinions on changing the wheels/ wheel covers? Or should I leave them? I'd be interested in hearing some options on wheels/ wheel covers that still fit the theme of the car..

    Thanks everyone!

If leaving the vinyl, then leave the wheelcovers too. Find some fresh tires of the same size as current.

Another point. I hope this car as been stored in good dry storage. Have you ever pulled a vinyl top off of a car that has been sitting under less than ideal conditions?

    I have.

I was thinking about this car yesterday in a quiet work moment.
"Ward, weren't you a little hard on the beaver last night?"
Maybe, of course I don't really think so but I'll go on record to say I almost, ALMOST, never set out to offend. I guess my observation was more like the sting to the nose and eyes of the fuel at a cackle fest. Maybe the initial burn felt after a shot of good bourbon. You don't stop either one tho, right? It's pure 70s chic. It's plaid bell bottoms. It's platform shoes. ****in eh, it's damn near disco:eek: Even tho there's really kool disco songs we still enjoy today it isn't disrespectful to change the record if this ain't one of em. I sense the car is on the right path to the eternal fashion we all embrace. I think dropping in here n there in its current guise is a major service to our world. But I'll stand pat that leaving it that way is bordering on the opposite. I'm happy to see it as an example of, of, uh, hmm, maybe some nice raw material. No, it will absolutely not disrespect anyone, the car, the life, to take it to the timelessness proven over decades and shared in these pages. Hey, someone added billet wheels and bright red paint to the Pierson Bros coupe (a****st other things). Was it disrespectful to reverse that page of its history? Not when you see it today in it's timeless glory of yesteryear.
No, I wasn't too hard on the beaver June...
