Check VIN and if J58 is in it that is DEFINITELY the afterburner control,
there were only 6 made and 3 known to exist, you may have found the
    Rosetta Stone of Caddy's!

it looks to be a power supply maby something to convert dc to ac for an accesory from the 60's ,a lot of car radios then ran on high voltage

It might be a grenade. I can't inspect it for you yet since I'm a FNG, maybe one of the grenade inspectors will.

Not really. You can be pretty sure it is a power supply for some electronic thing using tubes. Just look at all the entertainment your little metal box has provided for so many. In most of the country it is way too cold to go outside and we have to have something to do with all this time. I thank you.

  8. It looks like a power supply. That cylindracal shaped alum. cased part is probably a device known in it's day as a ********. Purpose of the device was to create a reasonable facsimile of alternating current which was needed in order to boost low voltages to higher voltages for electronic equipment. Car radios back in the day all had them. They made a mechanical noise that could be annoying.

Looks like a capacitor, looks like a ********....makes sense that it's a ********.

It's been probably 20 years since I've seen one of these things.

the plane supply? this is from a civilian aircraft,it would mount in the tail cone to make power for the radios. it powers a Narco Omninavigator Mk11. AA lot of tubes then required high voltage Ac to operate, same with regular radio tubes.

Careful on what you wish for.

I had the hots for a chick in grade 8. (I'm 50 now) She moved away and I never saw here again till ---- last week.

OMFG she's a haggard old buzzard. Yikes! Sadly you can't unsee what has been seen.
