A local guy found this in a stash of his deceased father's parts and neither of us knew what it was. It has a float on it. The float is attached to a somewhat stiff coil spring which closes a valve when a fluid level would rise. There is a large check ball inside the orifice. It was in a box with the Lincoln logo on it.
    Anyone know what it is?

Maybe it's not a car part and was just in the box? Only thing I ever saw that looks like that is the float in the gas tank.

That thing in the background of the second photo is a head off a Ford :)

That goes on the bottom the pickup tube for a pneumatic oil pump like used in service stations. Anybody remember service stations?

I'm surprised no one has said, "kanoodle valve".It's obviously some kind of flow valve. Never saw anything like that, even when we used to have an air pressure powered barium enema instillation unit. They were supposed to pressure fill the colon up fast for barium enema imaging, but never really caught on; I think most Drs./Techs were afraid to use them. And now you know something else you did'nt want to know about. Butch/56sedandelivery.

Looks like $90/ton to me. Who cares what it is if we can't use it on our hot rods!

I bet Doc Brown built it to work with the Flux Capacitor. Check Valve for time travel.
