Anyone know where a guy could buy some cool traditional hot rod coffee mugs?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SamIyam, Jan 21, 2007.

  1. Or hot rod coffee mugs?

I'm tired of drinking out of the same old mugs...

I recall some that looked like a 97 carburetor. Really cool. Of course, I can't tell you where or when I saw them. I guess I am not that much help......

  3. Ya want different?
    Go to http:Clayimages.com
They are nearby here and make one off things like dragon shaped steins and mugs with EVEN a little dragon in the bottom of the cup....YA WANT different huh?

  4. www.verntardel.com is the place for those mugs...not to mention alot of other"unnecessary necessities"

  6. machine out a piston Sam

  7. John- My idea was only  traditional in the sense that the dragon Mug will double as a TRAD shift knob, while he's not drinking coffee!

  8. I mean... my coffee mugs are so old...

    "How old are they?"

They are so old... that the rainbow has taken on a new meaning since I last bought a coffee mug!

I do my shopping for coffee mugs at the antique stores while watching my budget shrink from my wife's shopping. Currently I have a couple of the 50's Army mess hall cups and a few of the old thick porclin resturant mugs that must weigh a pound and a half empty.

Try the Disney Store, they have one of The Big Bad Wolf that is really cool, IMHO. Hell I have it right here on my desk in Mumbai, got it just before I left this month.

  14. Some of you really do have a comment on where to get, or what makes, a "hot rod coffee mug". That's hilarious, pathetic, & to be expected here...

When a post like this post gets honest responses...... it's about time for a tech week.

Thanks for pointing that out Sam.

  15. This is so ON topic!
Besides the actual cars i can only think of one more important thing then coffee mugs when you build a hotrod, and that is how to get the best grip on the beer with greasy hands!

  16. I threw a rainbow coffee mug last week while cleaning up my workbench... it was full of dry ball point pens and rat shit.

Harrison is correct, it's time for a tech week...

    Unfortunately I'm tech weak.

  18. How about a Route 66 coffee mug?
(Or T-shirt, jacket, keyring and other Route 66 memorabilia.)

You can get em on a visit to Kingman, AZ when you do the Fun Run or anytime you're in town.

    Go here: http://www.azrt66.com/

    Then go here: http://www.kingmantourism.org/to-do-and-see/kingman-attractions/powerhouse-visitors-center.php

The Fun Run is a three day event that has a lot of driving Friday.
Car show right next to the Powerhouse Saturday.
    Some more driving Sunday.

All of the driving taking place on Old Route 66 although Sunday afternoon you'll probably want to take Interstate 40 back to Kingman if you're going that way.

this is my coffee mug. I got it at disney this fall. I thought it was neat. goofy was born in 1932 so he fits well with my deuce. they have a great donald and mickey cup as well. mickey was born in 28 so I might have to get his cup to go with my roadster.

DRJ "If you're looking for traditional Mechanic's mug, I remember the only thing my Mechanic-Dad using back in the 50's was those milky green glass mugs that flare a tad at the top.
I don't have any of thm myself, but I look for them at second hand stores occasionally.
I guess they are rare today?"

Like mine? E-bay or antique stores.

The daughter in law is sitting in the front room drinking out of one exactly like that right now.

Me.... I won't touch the faggety thing.

  28. I got this simple, yet cool mug from Sacto Vintage during a visit there. Heck Sam, if you want a veritable mug-o-rama, hit EBay. There are people printing mugs with every known mode of transport on them.

Funny I should see this thread today. I was just on the phone ordering sheetmetal for my 57 chevy that ended up costing 3
times what I paid for the car(32 yrs. ago). Fresh cup in hand
when I came out here but somewhere in the middle of the phone order I took a big ole slug from my chrome Snap-on tm. mug
that had been here since last week sometime. Managed to finish
my order without hurling and finished off my FRESH Disney tm.
Tiggers "racing stripes" cup but still have that god awful last weeks
stuff taste in my mouth. Any ideas?
