    got a 55 buick special, and the heater core is broke. can i just by pass it for know to keep it from leaking in passenger side? if so, what will that do for the running temp?

    By pass it, the water temp. won't be affected. The radiator and thermostat control cooling, the heater has only a small effect and only when the tap is on.

    I bypassed the heater in my '55 Buick at the water pump. No problems at all in the last 8 years.
     
  4. If you bypass it with a hose (as opposed to plugs) make sure you double clamp it, they like to come off.

    Bypass it, you'll be fine. I bypass all of my heaters no need for them down here in Miami. :D
