I just got finished going thru 15 pages on the main board of "Bad Bobz" posts and pics from the event and saw several 52-56's in the background,I guess He doesn't love us no good pics of our favorites, so had to settle for the "Betties" as being the next best thing.
On my way to check the betties- and the 52-56's in the background. I was thinking, would anyone like to have a thread where we post pics of 52-56's (that we don't own), that we've found to offer a gallery of ideas for everyone to reference. I have a bunch of pics and articles from the little books to contribute and i know that I would definitely dig seeing some myself. Anyhoo, sorry for the hijack, whaddya think?
I think that's a great idea, Scott! I have a bunch of photos and stuff myself that I think other members would like to see. Bring it on!!! I'm off to the Lonestar Round Up this weekend and will take photos of all the cars I see that fit our little niche. The Roundup is not as "rockabilly" as Viva, much more about traditional rods and customs than rusty rat rods with spider webs. A whole different take on the hot rod hobby. Amazingly enough, "American Graffiti" actually got it pretty close to right when it comes to how things really were back in the day...at least on my planet. Those of us who were "youts" at the time can only shake our heads and wonder where the "kulture" of today got their cues. Does make some pretty good photo coverage though, doesn't it.
I think its a good idea. I haven't made it to Viva ever, and don't really plan on it. I'm sure its better now than it was, but I'm not much into the rockabilly thing and I hate "Rat Rods" . I know that not all the cars there are "Rat Rods" and there are probably alot of nice cars there, but I'm not driving 250 miles for that, the only one I would drive that far for would be the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion. JMO.

Anyhoo, sorry for the hijack, whaddya think?] I started one with that intent awhile back ( see: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=9246 ) Perhaps I misnamed it. But if someone else wants to start another one I think it's a great idea. Ron
Yep, saw that Ron, and thanks for starting it. I guess I didn't want to hijack it with articles from magazines if that wasn't your intent. But if you're cool with it, I'll post them there.
you techno guys really amaze me!!!! I can barely google anything on these computation devices, and you guys can do anything! Pretty Cool.... well....maybe I can melt some metal together for you some day and impress you!!!.... may not too.
Jeff, I'm on page 5 of the Viva thread you mentioned- I can see why you put "Betties" in quotation marks (well, not my cup 'o tea anyways)...
Scott,I sent you an email of a '54 that is probably one of the best I have seen, please post the pic. Thanks,Jeff (double click on it to enlarge)
yep! I like that Idea scott! lets see what ya got. I to just got done with bad bobs thread. wish I could have seen more cars!
I love the Viva pics, some really nice cars there! I started a thread a few years back that has a bunch of 52-54s in it. Sorry 55-56 guys, I was looking for inspiration. Lots of cars though- http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228927
It might be my memory, but I think the calibre of cars has improved at Viva, judging from the two photo coverages I've seen. This is a good thing...
After reading my above post and seeing all the pics of this year, I realized I sounded like a bitter *****. The cars that I've seen in the photos look awesome. And it sounds like all who went had a blast. Maybe I would drive that far for a show.
